JOB DESCRIPTION – SALES ENGINEER

1. About the Company
Thermocool Engineering Private Limited is an established engineering company engaged in the design, manufacture and supply of transformer radiators and allied transformer and substation equipment. The company serves major transformer manufacturers, power utilities, EPC contractors, industrial customers and export markets.
To strengthen its domestic and international business development activities, the company is seeking an experienced and technically competent Sales Engineer with established exposure to the transformer and substation industry.
2. Position Objective
The Sales Engineer will be responsible for identifying business opportunities, developing customer relationships, understanding technical requirements and securing orders for transformer radiators and allied products.
The position requires a strong combination of technical knowledge, commercial understanding, customer relationship management and field-sales capability. Preference will be given to candidates having direct experience in selling transformer radiators.
3. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Business Development and Sales
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with transformer manufacturers, power utilities, EPC contractors, substations, power plants and major industrial customers.
- Promote transformer radiators and other allied transformer and substation products.
- Generate enquiries, develop qualified leads and convert opportunities into confirmed orders.
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets assigned by the company.
- Develop business in both new-transformer and replacement-radiator markets.
- Explore opportunities in steel plants, cement plants, power-generation facilities, transmission utilities and other industries operating power transformers.
- Develop and maintain a structured sales pipeline and opportunity-conversion plan.
- Support the company’s expansion into new domestic territories and export markets.
B. Technical Sales and Customer Support
- Understand customers’ technical specifications, drawings, data sheets, quantities and delivery requirements.
- Discuss radiator dimensions, number of elements, centre distances, flange arrangements, pressure requirements, painting specifications, galvanisation requirements and applicable quality standards.
- Coordinate with the engineering, production, quality and costing departments to develop technically compliant offers.
- Review customer enquiries and confirm that all technical and commercial requirements are clearly understood before quotation.
- Provide preliminary technical guidance to customers and arrange detailed technical discussions with the company’s engineering team where necessary.
- Participate in technical meetings, vendor-development programmes, inspections and product presentations.
C. Tendering and Commercial Proposals
- Monitor public-sector, utility, EPC and private-sector procurement opportunities.
- Assist in tender registration, vendor registration, prequalification and enquiry tracking.
- Prepare technically and commercially accurate quotations in coordination with the internal team.
- Follow up on submitted quotations, negotiate commercial terms and secure purchase orders.
- Review purchase orders against the company’s final quotation and identify technical or commercial deviations.
- Maintain awareness of market prices, raw-material trends, competitor activities and customer procurement practices.
- Support negotiations concerning price, delivery schedule, payment terms, inspection requirements, packing, transportation and warranty obligations.

Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain professional relationships with purchase departments, technical teams, project departments, quality personnel, consultants and senior decision-makers.
- Conduct regular customer visits and maintain consistent follow-up on enquiries and proposals.
- Ensure timely responses to customers regarding technical clarifications, quotations, delivery status and after-sales requirements.
- Develop existing accounts through repeat orders, cross-selling and long-term supply arrangements.
- Obtain customer feedback and coordinate the resolution of commercial or technical concerns.
- Represent Thermocool Engineering professionally at customer meetings, exhibitions, conferences and industry events.
E. Sales Planning and Reporting
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports covering customer visits, enquiries, quotations, order status, sales forecasts and collection follow-ups.
- Maintain updated customer databases, enquiry registers and order-pipeline records.
- Prepare territory-wise and customer-wise sales plans.
- Track sales targets, order values, conversion ratios and outstanding opportunities.
- Provide management with reliable market intelligence and competitor information.
- Participate in periodic sales-review meetings and submit action plans for achieving assigned targets.
F. Order Execution and Internal Coordination
- Coordinate with production, engineering, quality, procurement, dispatch and accounts teams after receipt of an order.
- Ensure that customer-approved drawings and technical specifications are available before production begins.
- Monitor order progress and keep customers informed of important milestones.
- Coordinate customer inspections, dispatch documentation and delivery schedules.
- Assist the accounts department in following up on advance payments, outstanding balances and overdue receivables.
- Support the satisfactory closure of customer complaints and after-sales issues.
4. Educational Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
- Candidates with additional qualifications in Marketing, Business Administration or Sales Management will be preferred.
- Relevant industry experience may be considered alongside the candidate’s academic qualifications.
5. Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant sales or business-development experience in the transformer, electrical equipment, power transmission, substation or associated engineering industry.
- Practical understanding of transformers, transformer accessories and substation equipment is essential.
- Candidates with established contacts among transformer manufacturers, power utilities, EPC contractors and industrial customers will be preferred.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates having direct experience in the sale of transformer radiators.
- Experience in institutional sales, tender-based sales, project sales or B2B engineering-product sales will be an advantage.
6. Required Technical Knowledge
The candidate should possess a working understanding of:
- Power and distribution transformers
- Transformer radiators and cooling systems
- Transformer accessories and fabricated components
- Substation equipment and related power-sector applications
- Technical drawings, specifications and data sheets
- Tendering and vendor-registration procedures
- Inspection, testing and quality-documentation requirements
- Commercial costing, quotation preparation and order negotiations
- Basic manufacturing processes such as fabrication, welding, testing, painting and galvanisation

9. Salary, Incentives and Benefits
- Fixed salary will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, industry experience, existing customer network and previous performance.
- The selected candidate will be eligible for performance-linked sales incentives upon achievement of assigned sales targets, in accordance with the company’s incentive policy.
- Higher performance and achievement beyond the assigned targets may be considered for additional incentives or recognition.
- Approved expenses incurred for official travel, accommodation and food will be reimbursed by the company upon submission of valid bills and supporting documents, as per company policy.
- Official communication and other business expenses may also be reimbursed where authorised by management.

- Understand both the technical and commercial aspects of engineering-product sales.
- Demonstrate solid ownership, discipline, professional integrity and a target-oriented mindset.
- Be willing to undertake extensive customer visits and market-development activities.
