Experience - 1 to 3 years in accounting, taxation or a similar finance role
Education - Commerce graduate (B.Com). A Master's degree is a plus.
Own the day-to-day accounting for a company that plans and buys media for 5,000+ brands.
Excellent Publicity is a media and advertising company. Since 2011 we have planned and bought media for 5,000+ brands, including the likes of Google, RBI, IIM-A, Amazon, Uber and Apple, across 3,00,000+ campaigns spanning hoardings, airports, metro and transit, newspapers, radio, cinema, television, digital, performance, influencer and sports.
We are an energetic young team of almost 100 people across Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Dubai, with a strong in-house tech team building AI-powered products, including EPitch, which builds detailed media plans and strategies in hours, and Atlas, which makes offline advertising as measurable and transparent as digital.
About the role
Behind every campaign we run, someone keeps the numbers clean, the ledgers accurate and the compliance on time. That is this role.
As our Accounts Executive you will own the day-to-day accounting for the business, from recording transactions and managing payables and receivables to handling GST, TDS and reconciliations. It is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in getting the numbers right and wants to build a strong career in accounting and taxation.
You will not be one of twenty people doing one slice of the ledger. At our size you see the whole picture, across a large vendor base and thousands of campaigns, which is how you actually learn this work.
What you will do:
- Maintain the books of accounts. Record daily transactions accurately and keep every ledger clean and up to date.
- Manage payables and receivables.
Track what the company owes and what is owed to us, and follow up on pending items.
- Handle banking, payments and receipts. Record bank entries and reconcile statements on a regular basis.
- Reconcile and scrutinise ledgers. Match balances across parties, review ledgers closely and flag anything that does not add up.
- Take care of GST compliance. Prepare and file returns such as GSTR-1, work through GSTR-2B reconciliation and pass the correct GST entries.
- Handle TDS and TCS. Deduct accurately, stay current with the latest TDS sections and keep records ready for filing.
- Support income tax work. Assist with income tax compliance and provide the figures the team needs at filing time.
Your first 90 days :
1st and 3rd - Learn our chart of accounts, vendor base and campaign billing flow. Take over daily entries and bank reconciliation under supervision.
4th - 8th - Own payables and receivables end to end. Run your first full GSTR-1 and GSTR-2B cycle with the Finance Lead alongside you.
9th - 12th - Own the monthly compliance calendar: GST, TDS and ledger scrutiny, closed on time without being chased.
Who we are looking for:
The first thing we are looking for is not on a marksheet. We want someone proactive, enthusiastic and energetic, who is genuinely ready to learn new things. Tax rules change, systems change, and the work here grows faster than a job description can.
The people who do well are the ones who go and find the answer rather than wait to be told.
- Proactive, and ready to learn current things. You spot the mismatch before someone points it out, and you raise it rather than sit on it. New TDS sections, new tools, new ways of closing the same month faster: curiosity matters more here than the length of your CV.
- Enthusiastic and energetic. You bring some life to a finance desk. This is a young team and you will be part of it.
- Careful and honest with numbers, and able to meet compliance deadlines without being chased.
- 1 to 3 years in accounting, taxation or a similar finance role, and a Commerce graduate (B.Com). A Master's degree such as M.Com is a plus, not a must.
- Solid working knowledge of GST, including returns, GSTR-2B reconciliation and correct accounting entries, along with TDS and TCS and the basics of income tax.
- Comfortable with ledger reconciliation and ledger scrutiny, and at ease with accounting software and spreadsheets.
If you have completed a CA articleship and decided not to continue with the course, you are exactly the kind of person we would like to hear from.
