Location: India – Remote / Hybrid

Fortis Industrial Solutions is a Canadian industrial fabrication and services company supporting customers in food & beverage, dairy, breweries, pharmaceutical, chemical, and industrial manufacturing.
Our capabilities include stainless steel process and sanitary piping, custom fabrication, process skids, equipment modifications, TIG welding, field installation, CAD/design support, passivation, and surface finishing.
We are looking for an experienced mechanical professional in India who can support both the technical and business development side of the company as we expand our stainless steel process systems business.
Role Overview
The Technical Business Development Manager will help develop Fortis's stainless steel piping and process equipment capabilities, supplier network, estimating systems, product database, website offerings, and new business opportunities.
This is not a pure sales position. The successful candidate should have strong hands-on industry knowledge of stainless steel process piping systems, fittings, valves, fabrication, and process equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a complete master list of stainless steel piping components used by Fortis.
- Identify and standardize sanitary fittings, elbows, tees, reducers, ferrules, clamps, flanges, valves, tubing, pipe, gaskets, supports, pumps and related components.
- Develop preferred component specifications for different applications and industries.
- Identify and communicate with manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and fabrication partners in India and internationally.
- Obtain pricing, technical data, catalogues, lead times and supplier quotations.
- Compare suppliers based on price, quality, certifications, capabilities and delivery.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers where required.
- Build and maintain Fortis's supplier and vendor database.
- Support preparation of project estimates, material take-offs and preliminary quotations.
- Review customer drawings, RFQs and project requirements and assist with estimating.
- Develop costing information for stainless steel piping, equipment and fabrication projects.
- Help create standard pricing and estimating tools for commonly used materials and components.
- Identify products and equipment that Fortis can offer to food, beverage, dairy, brewery, pharmaceutical and industrial customers.
- Research competitors and identify additional services or products Fortis should introduce.
- Review the Fortis website and recommend improvements to services, products, technical content and industry positioning.
- Coordinate collection of product photos, technical information, catalogues and project references for website development.
- Help develop technical website content for piping systems, process skids, CIP systems, tanks, valves, fittings and other stainless steel equipment.
- Identify potential manufacturing and engineering partners.
- Support development of partnerships for equipment design, fabrication and technical engineering.
- Assist with sourcing equipment such as pumps, valves, heat exchangers, tanks, instrumentation and process components.
- Communicate with vendors, engineering companies, manufacturers and potential business partners.
- Support Fortis management with technical and commercial research required for new opportunities.
Required Experience
- Mechanical Engineering degree or diploma.
- Minimum 6–7 years of relevant experienc in stainless steel process systems, fabrication, process piping, food processing equipment, dairy equipment,
pharmaceutical equipment or a related industry.
- Robust knowledge of stainless steel piping and fittings.
- Familiarity with 304/304L and 316/316L stainless steel.
- Understanding of sanitary/hygienic piping systems.
- Experience with fittings, valves, pumps, tanks, process skids and associated equipment.
- Understanding of TIG-welded and sanitary piping systems.
- Ability to read fabrication drawings, piping layouts, P&IDs;, isometrics and equipment drawings.
- Experience preparing BOMs, material take-offs or estimates.
- Experience working with suppliers and obtaining quotations.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Comfortable communicating directly with suppliers, customers, engineers and company management.

- Business development within the stainless steel/process equipment industry
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is commercially minded but also technically strong.
The ideal candidate should be able to look at a piping system or process skid and understand:
- What components are required
- Which fitting or valve should be used
- Where it can be sourced
- Approximate material cost
- Fabrication requirements
- Potential suppliers
- Possible design or cost improvements
- How Fortis could offer the system to customers
This position will work closely with Fortis management and will have significant involvement in developing the company's future stainless steel process systems business.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Pune, Maharashtra
