About the Role

SDBI is looking for a full-time Assistant Professor – Mathematics for Engineering to join its academic team at the PAHSU campus in Solapur.

The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching Engineering Mathematics to undergraduate engineering students, developing strong mathematical and analytical foundations, conducting tutorials and problem-solving sessions, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic development of the programme.

The role will involve connecting mathematical concepts with engineering, computing, data science, artificial intelligence and real-world applications, wherever relevant.

Qualification (As per applicable UGC / AICTE norms)

- M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Mathematics) / M.Phil. / Ph.D. in Mathematics or a relevant discipline, with First Class or equivalent, as applicable under prevailing UGC / AICTE / University norms.




- Candidates with a relevant M.E./M.Tech. / equivalent qualification with strong mathematical background may also be considered, subject to applicable norms.
- Ph.D. in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Statistics or a relevant discipline is preferred.
- NET/SET qualification is preferred.

Experience

- As per UGC / AICTE norms.
- 5 to 8 years of teaching experience in Mathematics / Engineering Mathematics at undergraduate or postgraduate level will be preferred.
- Fresh Ph.D. candidates may apply.
- Experience teaching Engineering Mathematics to B.Tech./B.E. students will be an added advantage.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Teaching Engineering Mathematics to undergraduate engineering students.
- Teaching topics such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Probability & Statistics, Numerical Methods and Discrete Mathematics, as applicable to the curriculum.
- Preparing lesson plans, course materials, and assessments.
- Conducting lectures, labs, seminars, and project guidance.
- Mentoring students for internships, placements, and research.
- Publishing research papers in reputed journals (Scopus/UGC Care).
- Applying for research grants and consultancy projects.
- Participating in NAAC/NBA accreditation work.




- Contributing to curriculum development as per NEP guidelines.
- Performing administrative and academic duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Key Competencies

- Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics / Applied Mathematics.
- Solid understanding of mathematical concepts relevant to engineering and technology.
- Ability to explain complex mathematical concepts clearly and intuitively.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Research aptitude and publication record (for senior roles).
- Ability to use modern teaching tools and LMS platforms.
- Teamwork and leadership qualities.

Experience with computational and mathematical tools such as Python, MATLAB, R, Mathematica or similar platforms will be an advantage.

- Support industry interaction, guest lectures, workshops and technical events.
- Facilitate industry projects, internships and other experiential learning opportunities.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
