Job Title: Specialist – Advocacy & Network Support

Company: Sense International India (Sense India)

Location: Ahmedabad / New Delhi (with occasional travel to project and network sites)

Job Type: Full-time, 2-Year Renewable Contract (including a 6-month probation period)

Work Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience (aligned with Indian NGO sector standards)

Sense International India (also known as Sense India) was established in 1997 as the first and only national non-governmental organisation dedicated to supporting comprehensive services for people with deafblindness and multiple disabilities across India. For nearly three decades, we have partnered with deafblind individuals, families, carers, and professionals to expand access, rights, and opportunities. Our stakeholders actively participate through self-help groups known as 'Networks'.

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated, early-career professional for the role of Specialist – Advocacy & Network Support. Reporting to the Senior Specialist – Network Communication & Support, you will provide front-line execution for national advocacy campaigns, lobbying initiatives, and disability rights awareness. This role balances on-ground event coordination and desk research with community-level engagement across our self-help stakeholder networks.

Key Responsibilities





Advocacy Execution & Campaign Logistics

- Support the day-to-day implementation and milestone tracking of the annual advocacy and lobbying action plan.
- Provide logistical and on-ground coordination for awareness campaigns, advocacy events, and government/development forums.
- Coordinate the design, preparation, translation, and distribution of advocacy collateral, presentations, and handouts alongside the communications team.
- Help organize local-level awareness events, handling invitations, venue arrangements, and post-event documentation.
- Maintain accurate engagement records and contact logs for government officials, civil society partners, and media contacts.

Research, Content & Field Documentation

- Compile case stories, field examples, and qualitative inputs from partner organizations for position papers, policy submissions, and campaign materials.
- Conduct basic desk research on central/state government schemes, policies, and entitlements related to disability and deafblindness.
- Support outreach to grassroots partner organizations to share advocacy toolkits and connect them with relevant welfare platforms.

Network & Community Coordination

- Facilitate light-touch communication with regional self-help network members to confirm event participation and share updates.
- Take accurate minutes of meetings involving network members, disability advocates, and institutional stakeholders.
- Update and maintain the stakeholder and network membership databases with verified contact details.




- Escalate complex network coordination matters to senior leadership while ensuring strict participant confidentiality and safeguarding.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Education: Graduate degree in Social Work (BSW/MSW), Social Sciences, Political Science, Mass Communication, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in advocacy, social development, human rights, or NGO operations. Motivated fresh graduates with relevant internship or volunteering experience are actively encouraged to apply.
- Sector Interest: Demonstrated commitment to disability inclusion, human rights, or child safeguarding frameworks.
- Communication Skills: Working proficiency in English and Hindi (verbal and written); knowledge of an additional regional language is advantageous.
- Technical Aptitude: Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual collaboration tools.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel locally and regionally to project locations and network sites as required.

Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ahmedabad, Gujarat (Ahmedabad): Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
