Job Summary

Unikraft Techno is looking for an experienced Fabrication Quality Engineer / Quality Engineer to ensure the quality of fabricated components, structures, and assemblies from raw material inspection through fabrication, welding, machining, surface treatment, and final inspection.

The candidate will be responsible for process and final inspection, supplier quality, material traceability, quality documentation, welding quality, NCR/CAPA, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Incoming Material Inspection

- Inspect MS/SS plates, pipes, profiles, sheets, and structural sections.
- Verify material grade, dimensions, thickness, MTC/COC, and heat numbers.
- Maintain complete material identification and traceability throughout fabrication.

2. Fabrication & Welding Quality

- Monitor fabrication activities as per approved drawings, specifications, and WPS.
- Inspect cutting, bending, drilling, fit-up, tack welding, and final welding.
- Check weld size, weld profile, alignment, distortion, and visual weld quality.
- Ensure compliance with approved WPS/PQR and welding parameters.
- Monitor welding consumable storage, baking, and handling.

3. Inspection & Testing

- Perform stage-wise and final inspections using appropriate measuring instruments.
- Coordinate VT, DPT, MPT, UT, and other NDT activities wherever applicable.
- Check dimensional accuracy, flatness, squareness,



hole position, and assembly fitment.
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain quality records.

4. Drawing & Quality Standards

- Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Understand GD&T;, welding symbols, tolerances, and inspection requirements.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and applicable quality standards.

5. Supplier Quality

- Conduct supplier inspections and quality audits.
- Monitor supplier fabrication quality and identify recurring defects.
- Raise NCRs and follow up on CAPA/corrective actions.
- Monitor supplier performance and support supplier quality improvement.

6. Quality Documentation

Prepare and maintain:

- Inspection reports
- NCR reports
- First Article Inspection (FAI) reports
- Welding inspection reports
- Material traceability records
- NDT reports
- Final inspection reports
- Quality check sheets and other quality documentation

7. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

- Identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Reduce welding defects, rework, rejection, and customer complaints.
- Support process standardization and continuous quality improvement.
- Work closely with Production, Design, Purchase, and Suppliers to resolve quality issues.

Required Skills





- Strong knowledge of fabrication and welding inspection.
- Good understanding of engineering/fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of GD&T; and welding symbols.
- Hands-on experience with Vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, measuring tape, and other inspection instruments.
- Knowledge of WPS/PQR and welding processes.
- Basic knowledge/awareness of NDT methods.
- Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, and NCR handling.
- Supplier Quality Management.
- Good knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
- Robust documentation, reporting, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering.
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in fabrication/welding quality.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 will be an added advantage.
- Experience in automobile, SPM, machine manufacturing, engineering, or heavy fabrication industries preferred.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should be hands-on, technically strong, quality-focused, and capable of independently handling fabrication quality activities. The candidate should be comfortable working with production teams, suppliers, welders, inspectors, and customers to ensure consistent quality and timely resolution of quality issues.
