Lighthouse Communities Foundation is setting up a new Lighthouse Centre in Gaya and we're looking for an energetic, empathetic, and passionate Spoken English & Digital Skills Trainer to help young adults build the communication, digital, and workplace skills they need to take their next step.

Your Role: Teach Skills That Open Doors

As a Spoken English & Digital Skills Trainer, you'll be one of the key people shaping the learner experience at our new Gaya Centre.

You'll help young people develop the practical skills they need to communicate confidently, navigate digital tools, prepare for employment, and participate effectively in the workplace.

Your role will bring together:

What You Will Do

Build Communication Confidence

- Conduct engaging Spoken English and digital empowerment sessions following the prescribed curriculum.
- Help learners improve their fluency, vocabulary, pronunciation, and everyday communication.
- Use conversations, activities, role plays, presentations, and workplace situations to make learning practical.
- Create a classroom where learners feel comfortable speaking, asking questions, and making mistakes.
- Adapt your facilitation style to learners with different levels of English proficiency.

Make Digital Skills Practical

Help learners become more comfortable navigating the digital world.

You may support them with:

- Basic digital literacy.
- Everyday digital tools and applications.
- Online communication.
- Digital documentation.
- Workplace technology.
- Practical digital tasks required for employment.

The goal is not simply to teach a tool.

It's to help learners become confident digital users.

Prepare Learners for Employment

The classroom is only the beginning.

You'll help learners prepare for the workplace through:





- Resume-building sessions.
- Mock interviews.
- Workplace communication activities.
- Professional behaviour and workplace etiquette.
- Interview confidence.
- Career-readiness activities.
- Practical guidance around employment processes.

You'll help students understand not only how to get a job, but how to prepare themselves to succeed once they get one.

Help Remove Practical Barriers

Sometimes employment readiness also means helping a young person get their documentation in place.

You'll support learners with understanding and completing requirements related to:

- Aadhaar
- PAN
- Bank accounts
- Other relevant employment documentation

You'll help make sure that practical barriers don't unnecessarily stand between a learner and an opportunity.

Mentor, Motivate & Encourage

Not every learner will progress at the same pace.

You will:

- Build meaningful relationships with students.
- Understand learner challenges and aspirations.
- Provide individual feedback and mentoring.
- Encourage learners who may be struggling.
- Celebrate progress.
- Help students stay motivated throughout their learning journey.
- Identify learners who need additional support and follow up appropriately.

For some students, the most important thing you provide may not be a lesson.

It may be confidence.

Track Learning & Progress

- Maintain learner attendance and records.
- Conduct assessments and document outcomes.
- Track learner progress and engagement.
- Update program information on MIS systems and Excel/Google Sheets.
- Prepare and submit timely reports to the Course Manager.
- Use learner data to identify gaps and improve training.

Tell the Stories Behind the Numbers

At the end of each batch, help capture:

- Learner testimonials.
- Success stories.
- Transformation journeys.
- Examples of how the program has influenced learners.

Because behind every attendance percentage or placement number is a young person with a story.

Help Build the New Gaya Centre

As this is a new Lighthouse Centre, you'll also contribute to creating its culture from the beginning.

You will:

- Support centre events and workshops.
- Participate in donor and stakeholder visits.
- Support centre-level activities.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
- Collaborate with the wider Lighthouse team.
- Contribute ideas to improve the learner experience.
- Help create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and energetic learning environment.

Who Are We Looking For?

Education

Graduate or Postgraduate in:

- English
- Journalism
- Mass Communication
- Linguistics
- Education
- Or a related discipline

Experience

- 1–2 years of experience in teaching, training, spoken English,



employability skills, digital literacy, or youth development.
- Experience mentoring young adults and preparing them for employment is an advantage.

Fresh candidates with strong facilitation skills and relevant internship or volunteering experience may also be considered.

Communication

Strong communication skills in:

- English
- Hindi
- Local language

Digital Skills

You should be comfortable with:

- MS Office
- Google Workspace
- Basic Excel/Google Sheets
- MIS/data entry and reporting

Facilitation & People Skills

We are looking for someone who is:

- Confident in front of a classroom.
- Energetic and engaging.
- Empathetic and approachable.
- Patient with different learning levels.
- Comfortable facilitating groups.
- Good at explaining concepts simply.
- Able to build trust with young adults.
