We are looking for a Automation Test Engineer who is passionate about software quality and enjoys finding problems before our clients do.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test suites for web applications and APIs, while also contributing to manual and exploratory testing where required. You will work closely with developers, project managers, and other QA engineers to ensure our products are reliable, stable, and ready for release.

The ideal candidate is someone who can think beyond simply executing test cases, someone who understands how applications work, can identify potential risks, and can build effective automation that provides real value to the development team.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web and API applications.
- Create and maintain robust, reusable, and scalable automation frameworks.
- Execute automated and manual test cases across different browsers, devices, and environments.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, and end-to-end testing.
- Identify, investigate, and document software defects with explicit reproduction steps.
- Work closely with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Review application requirements and technical specifications to identify potential testing risks.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure tests are executed as part of the development and release process.
- Analyse test results, identify failures, and distinguish between application defects and automation/environment issues.
- Maintain test documentation, test cases, and automation scripts.

- Contribute to improving QA processes, automation coverage, and overall software quality.
- Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and release activities.
- Take ownership of assigned testing activities and communicate progress, risks, and blockers clearly.

- Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, JSON, and authentication.
- Experience with Git/GitHub/GitLab and version control workflows.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience running automated tests in CI environments.
- Good knowledge of SQL/database testing.
- Experience with cross-browser and responsive web application testing.
- Ability to analyse automation failures and debug test scripts independently.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing.

Good to Have

- Experience with Playwright + TypeScript.
- Experience building an automation framework from scratch.
- Experience with Docker.
- Experience with cloud testing platforms such as BrowserStack or Sauce Labs.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter or k6.
- Experience testing applications deployed on AWS, Azure, or similar cloud platforms.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Basic understanding of security testing concepts.

What We're Looking For

Beyond technical skills, we're looking for someone who:

- Thinks like a tester rather than simply following test cases.
- Is curious and naturally asks “What could go wrong?”
- Can investigate issues independently before escalating them.
- Writes clean, maintainable automation code.
- Understands that automation is a tool, not the goal, the goal is delivering quality software.
- Communicates clearly with developers, project managers, and clients.
- Is comfortable working on multiple projects and adapting to different technologies.
- Takes ownership and follows issues through to resolution.
