Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Azure Data Platform / PostgreSQL DBA Engineer to support a critical Oracle to PostgreSQL migration on Microsoft Azure.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration, Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server, Azure Database Migration Service (DMS), AKS, Azure networking, and Key Vault.

The selected candidate will be responsible for owning the target database platform, executing the migration, supporting AKS connectivity, and driving the production cutover and rollback strategy.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, provision, and manage Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server.
- Configure and manage zone-redundant High Availability (HA).
- Perform SKU, storage, IOPS, and capacity sizing for PostgreSQL workloads.
- Plan and execute Oracle to PostgreSQL database migration using Azure Database Migration Service.
- Execute offline / big-bang production database migrations.
- Perform migration validation including row-count, LOB, sequence, and data integrity checks.
- Perform Oracle-to-PostgreSQL schema and datatype mapping.
- Configure database connectivity between PostgreSQL and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Manage AKS ConfigMaps, Secrets, Kustomize configurations, and rolling deployments.
- Configure Azure networking including VNet Integration, Private Endpoints, and Private DNS.
- Integrate Azure Key Vault with AKS using CSI Secret Store and synced secrets.
- Configure and manage PostgreSQL backups, recovery, and maintenance windows.
- Create and manage production cutover runbooks and rollback plans.
- Troubleshoot database performance, connectivity, migration, and production issues.




- Work closely with application, cloud, DevOps, and infrastructure teams during migration and production deployment.

Must-Have Skills

- 5+ years of Database Engineering / DBA experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL Administration.
- Strong experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL Versatile Server.
- Experience with PostgreSQL HA, backups, performance tuning, SKU / IOPS sizing, and maintenance windows.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Database Migration Service (DMS).
- Experience executing at least one offline / big-bang database migration.
- Oracle database knowledge, including schema and datatype mapping.
- Experience with migration validation and reconciliation.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Experience with ConfigMaps, Secrets, Kustomize, and rolling redeployments.
- Strong understanding of Azure networking, including VNet, Private Endpoints, and Private DNS.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Key Vault + AKS integration.

Strongly Preferred Skills

- Oracle to PostgreSQL migration experience.
- Flyway or Liquibase.
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep.
- Experience creating production cutover and rollback runbooks.
- Experience working on greenfield Azure environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills.
