Job Description – Dialysis Technician
Position: Dialysis Technician
Department: Dialysis Unit
Reports To: Nephrologist / Medical Director / Dialysis Unit In-Charge
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dialysis Technician to provide safe and efficient hemodialysis treatment to patients under the supervision of a nephrologist and nursing/medical team. The technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining dialysis equipment, preparing patients and machines for treatment, monitoring patients during dialysis, and maintaining strict infection-control and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care
- Prepare patients for hemodialysis treatment and verify treatment prescriptions.
- Record pre-dialysis and post-dialysis vital signs, weight, and other relevant parameters.
- Assist with patient positioning and ensure patient comfort throughout the treatment.
- Monitor patients continuously during dialysis and promptly report any abnormalities or complications to the medical team.
- Assist in managing dialysis-related emergencies according to established protocols.
2. Dialysis Procedure
- Set up and prepare dialysis machines, dialyzers, bloodlines, and other required equipment.
- Perform priming and ensure the dialysis circuit is properly prepared before treatment.
- Initiate and terminate dialysis procedures as per prescribed protocols and under appropriate supervision.
- Monitor blood flow, dialysis parameters, venous/arterial pressures, ultrafiltration, conductivity, temperature, and other machine parameters.
- Ensure accurate fluid removal and treatment duration according to the prescribed dialysis plan.
- Handle vascular access carefully and maintain appropriate aseptic technique.
3. Infection Control
- Strictly follow infection-control policies and standard precautions.
- Maintain aseptic technique during all dialysis procedures.
- Properly disinfect dialysis machines and treatment areas after every session.
- Follow prescribed cleaning, disinfection, and water-treatment procedures.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of biomedical waste.
4. Equipment & Machine Management
- Perform routine checks of dialysis machines before starting treatment.
- Identify and report machine alarms, technical problems, and equipment malfunctions.
- Carry out routine cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance as per manufacturer and centre protocols.
- Maintain adequate stocks of dialysis consumables and report shortages to the supervisor.
- Maintain records of machine maintenance, disinfection, and quality-control procedures.
5. Documentation
- Maintain accurate dialysis treatment records for every patient.
- Document pre- and post-dialysis parameters, medications administered during dialysis, complications, interventions, and treatment completion details.
- Maintain records related to machine maintenance, water quality, infection control, and consumable usage.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time.
6. Patient Safety & Professional Conduct
- Follow all hospital/dialysis-centre policies and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure patient identification and treatment prescription verification before every dialysis session.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients and their relatives.
- Immediately escalate adverse events, medical emergencies, and safety concerns to the appropriate medical personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/B.Sc. in Dialysis Technology / Dialysis Therapy Technology or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Relevant experience in a hospital or dialysis centre is preferred.
- Freshers with appropriate qualifications may also be considered.
- Knowledge of hemodialysis procedures, infection control, and dialysis equipment.

Pay: Up to ₹25,000.00 per month
