Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Testing Manager with 10+ years of experience in electrical control panel manufacturing, testing, quality assurance, and industrial automation.

The Testing Manager will be responsible for planning, managing, and supervising all testing and inspection activities for electrical control panels and automation systems, ensuring that products are manufactured and tested in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, applicable IEC/ISO standards, customer requirements, and project-specific quality plans.

The role will have end-to-end responsibility for the testing function, starting from design/drawing review and preparation of QAP/FAT procedures through in-process inspection, final testing, customer FAT, punch-list closure, documentation, and final test certification/compliance documentation.

The position requires strong technical knowledge of PCC, MCC, IMCC, PLC, VFD, SCADA, control and automation panels, switchboards, distribution boards, and industrial electrical systems, along with proven leadership and customer-facing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities1. Testing Department Management

- Lead and manage the complete Testing & Inspection team and testing activities for control panel manufacturing projects.
- Plan daily, weekly, and project-wise testing activities based on production schedules and project priorities.
- Allocate manpower, testing resources, equipment, and responsibilities to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Establish and monitor testing procedures, work instructions, checklists, and quality standards.
- Train, guide, and develop testing engineers, technicians, and inspectors.
- Monitor team performance, productivity, testing quality, and adherence to company procedures.
- Ensure testing activities are completed within project timelines without compromising quality or safety.

2. Design & Engineering Review

- Review approved electrical schematics, GA drawings, SLDs, wiring diagrams, BOMs, control philosophies, and technical specifications before commencement of production.
- Identify design, wiring, component selection, rating, and functional issues at the engineering stage.
- Coordinate with Design/Engineering teams to resolve technical issues before and during production.
- Review design changes, deviations, and customer comments and ensure their implementation in the final product.
- Review redline-marked drawings and coordinate preparation/update of as-built drawings.
- Ensure testing requirements are identified during the design stage and incorporated into the project QAP/FAT procedures.

3. QAP, ITP & FAT Procedure

- Prepare and review Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), FAT procedures, inspection checklists, and testing formats.
- Define inspection and testing requirements based on customer specifications, approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable standards.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Purchase, Quality, and Project teams to ensure QAP requirements are properly implemented.
- Review customer-specific testing requirements and incorporate them into FAT procedures.
- Ensure all required inspection and testing stages are clearly defined from manufacturing through customer FAT.

4. In-Process & Final Inspection

- Supervise and ensure completion of routine, in-process, and final inspection/testing of electrical control panels.
- Ensure proper inspection of:
- PCC Panels
- MCC Panels
- IMCC Panels
- PLC Panels
- VFD Panels
- Control & Automation Panels
- Switchboards
- Distribution Boards (DB)
- Other LT electrical and automation panels
- Ensure visual and dimensional inspection of panels, components, wiring, busbars, cable termination, labels, ferrules, gland plates, earthing, and accessories.
- Verify component ratings, makes, specifications, materials, quantities, and installation against approved BOM/drawings.
- Ensure workmanship and assembly quality meet approved standards and customer requirements.

5. Electrical Testing & Functional Verification

Supervise and technically support testing activities including:

- Continuity testing
- Insulation Resistance (Megger) testing
- High Voltage / Dielectric Withstand (HV) testing




- Earth continuity and earthing verification
- Functional testing
- Interlock testing
- Protection and control circuit testing
- Phase sequence verification
- Meter and indication testing
- Network and communication testing
- I/O testing
- Loop checking, where applicable
- Component and control circuit verification
- Troubleshooting of wiring and electrical faults

6. PLC, VFD, HMI & Automation Testing

- Supervise functional testing of PLC, VFD, HMI, SCADA, communication networks, and industrial automation systems.
- Verify PLC I/O, control logic, alarms, interlocks, sequences, permissives, and communication.
- Review and verify VFD parameters, control modes, protection settings, communication, and operation.
- Verify HMI screens, indications, alarms, commands, trends, and communication with PLC/field devices.
- Coordinate with Automation/Design teams for troubleshooting of PLC, VFD, HMI, SCADA, and communication-related issues.
- Ensure functional performance is verified against approved control philosophy and customer requirements.

7. Troubleshooting & Corrective Action

- Lead the identification and resolution of electrical, wiring, component, automation, and functional issues during testing.
- Analyze recurring testing failures and identify root causes.
- Coordinate with Design, Production, Procurement, and Quality teams for corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure testing observations and non-conformities are properly recorded and closed.
- Monitor repeated defects and implement corrective measures to reduce rework and testing failures.

8. Customer FAT & Inspection Coordination

- Take overall responsibility for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) activities.
- Coordinate with customers, consultants, third-party inspectors, and project teams for inspection and FAT schedules.
- Review and ensure readiness of panels, documentation, test equipment, drawings, procedures, and checklists before customer FAT.
- Lead customer FAT activities and provide technical explanations related to testing and panel functionality.
- Record customer observations and punch points and coordinate timely closure.
- Ensure all FAT punch-list items are closed before dispatch or as per agreed project requirements.
- Handle technical discussions with customers/consultants related to testing, inspection, compliance, and quality requirements.

9. Punch-List & Shop-Floor Inspection

- Perform and supervise punch-listing activities on the factory shop floor.
- Ensure all identified punch points are properly documented, assigned, tracked, and closed.
- Coordinate with Production and Engineering teams for timely rectification.
- Conduct final verification after punch-list closure.

10. Documentation & Quality Records

- Ensure complete and accurate testing documentation for every project.
- Review and approve, as applicable:
- Testing reports
- Inspection reports
- FAT reports
- QAP/ITP records
- Test certificates
- Compliance certificates
- Calibration records
- Punch-list reports
- Inspection checklists
- As-built/redline drawings
- Customer inspection records
- Final quality dossiers
- Ensure all testing records are traceable to the relevant project, panel, drawing, and equipment.
- Maintain proper records for internal and customer audits.

11. Calibration & Test Equipment Management

- Ensure all measuring and testing instruments are properly maintained, identified, and calibrated.
- Maintain and monitor calibration records for:
- Multimeters
- Meggers
- HV testing equipment
- Clamp meters
- Electrical calibrators
- Process/instrument calibrators
- Other measuring and testing equipment
- Ensure no expired or non-calibrated instrument is used for inspection or testing.
- Coordinate periodic calibration and verification of testing equipment.

12. Standards, Safety & Compliance

- Ensure testing and inspection activities comply with applicable IEC, ISO, customer specifications, project specifications, and relevant electrical safety requirements.
- Ensure safe working practices during electrical and HV testing.
- Establish and enforce appropriate safety procedures for testing personnel.
- Ensure proper isolation, earthing, barricading, warning signage,



and PPE during testing activities.
- Keep the testing team updated with applicable standards, customer requirements, and industry best practices.

13. Cross-Functional Coordination

- Work closely with Design Engineering, Production, Quality, Procurement, Project Management, Automation, and Service teams.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide testing/quality status.
- Highlight technical risks, testing delays, material issues, and design concerns to management.
- Coordinate testing priorities according to project delivery schedules.
- Provide technical inputs during design, manufacturing, and project execution stages.

14. Continuous Improvement

- Develop and improve testing procedures, checklists, QAPs, FAT formats, and inspection methods.
- Analyze testing defects, rework, rejection, and customer observations to identify improvement opportunities.
- Implement systems to improve First Time Right (FTR) and reduce testing/rework time.
- Standardize testing processes across different panel types and projects.
- Drive continuous improvement in testing quality, documentation, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

- Knowledge of QAP, ITP, FAT procedures, inspection procedures, test reports, and compliance documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills.

Required Managerial & Soft Skills

- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in electrical control panel manufacturing/testing.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory/lead/managerial testing role is preferred.

The Testing Manager will be responsible for monitoring and improving:

- On-time completion of testing activities

Overall Responsibility

The Testing Manager will have end-to-end responsibility for the Testing & Inspection function, from design-stage review → QAP/ITP preparation → FAT procedure → in-process inspection → electrical testing → automation/functional testing → final inspection → customer FAT → punch-list closure → test certificates/compliance documentation → final testing dossier.

The position requires a combination of strong technical expertise, people management, quality assurance, project coordination, customer handling, troubleshooting, and leadership skills to ensure that all control panels are delivered with the required quality, functionality, safety, documentation, and customer acceptance.

Pay: From ₹400,000.00 per year
