Position: Power Car Operator

Location: Yeshwantpur Ju./ SBC Station/ SMVT Station.
Age Limit: 23–30 Years

Job Purpose

The Power Car Operator will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of railway Power Cars. The role involves handling the Power Car from initial start-up and operational checks through fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and restoration of equipment to normal working condition.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate and monitor railway Power Car equipment and systems safely and efficiently.
- Perform pre-start, start-up, and shutdown procedures as per operational requirements.
- Monitor generator performance, electrical parameters, and connected systems during operation.
- Carry out routine inspection and basic preventive maintenance of Power Car equipment.
- Identify electrical and mechanical abnormalities during operation.
- Perform fault diagnosis and troubleshooting to identify the root cause of equipment failures.
- Troubleshoot electrical components, wiring, control circuits, switches, relays, contactors, fuses, and related systems.
- Carry out basic corrective maintenance and assist in the restoration of faulty equipment.
- Maintain proper operational records, equipment readings, and fault reports.
- Follow railway safety procedures, electrical safety practices, and maintenance protocols.
- Coordinate with maintenance and technical teams during major faults or repairs.
- Ensure the Power Car is maintained in a safe and operational condition.

Required Skill SetTechnical Skills

- Basic knowledge of Silent Generator / Diesel Generator (DG) Sets.
- Understanding of generator operation, starting,



stopping, and basic monitoring.
- Basic knowledge of electrical components and control systems.
- Ability to read and understand basic electrical wiring diagrams and control circuits.
- Knowledge of electrical components such as:
- Contactors
- Relays
- Fuses and MCBs
- Switches
- Sensors
- Motors
- Batteries
- Control panels
- Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Ability to identify electrical faults and perform systematic fault diagnosis.
- Basic understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Ability to use basic electrical and mechanical tools and measuring instruments.

Educational Qualification

Candidates with any of the following qualifications may be considered:

- 10th Pass
- 12th Pass
- ITI – Mechanical
- ITI – Electrical
- Diploma / Polytechnic – Mechanical Engineering
- Diploma / Polytechnic – Electrical Engineering
