The Role

The Draftsperson will support O’Brien’s Australian engineering and project teams by preparing accurate and buildable drawings for boiler, piping, thermal and industrial plant projects.

The role requires an experienced draftsperson who can interpret engineering intent, understand fabrication and site requirements, and progress drawings with limited supervision.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop coordinated 3D models using Autodesk Inventor
- Produce GA drawings, equipment layouts, piping plans, isometrics, spool drawings and fabrication drawings
- Develop and revise P&IDs; using approved engineering information
- Detail piping, equipment, supports and structural interfaces
- Review drawings for constructability, access, clearances and installation requirements
- Interpret sketches, mark-ups, redlines, site measurements and photographs.
- Identify clashes, incomplete information and drawing inconsistencies
- Work with engineers, project teams, fabricators and site personnel to resolve drafting queries
- Incorporate approved revisions and prepare accurate as-built drawings
- Maintain drawing registers, revision control and document status
- Complete drawing checks before engineering review and approval
- Prepare Bills of Materials and material take-offs where required





Essential Requirements

- Strong Autodesk Inventor capability, including 3D modelling, assemblies and detailed 2D drawings
- Competence in AutoCAD and P&ID; drafting
- Experience in industrial piping, mechanical plant, boiler systems, thermal equipment, fabrication or heavy engineering
- Experience preparing piping layouts, isometrics, spool drawings and fabrication packages
- Understanding of pipe routing, fittings, valves, supports, equipment connections and clearances
- Knowledge of fabrication and site installation practices
- Ability to develop coordinated drawings from engineering mark-ups and site information
- Strong attention to drawing accuracy and document control
- Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate with Australian-based teams
- Availability to provide sufficient overlap with Australian working hours

Preferred Experience

- Boiler, steam, condensate, feedwater, gas or process-piping experience
- Experience supporting projects through design, fabrication, construction and as-built completion
- Familiarity with AS 1100 and AS 4041
- Experience with Bills of Materials, laser scans or point-cloud data

Role Boundaries

The Draftsperson will identify technical issues and recommend practical options. Final engineering calculations, design decisions and approvals remain with the appropriately qualified engineer.

Drawings must not be issued for fabrication or construction until the required checking and approval process has been completed.

Shortlisted applicants may be asked to complete a practical drafting assessment.

Pay: ₹125,000.00 - ₹130,000.00 per month
