Job Summary
The ICU RMO is responsible for providing continuous medical care to critically ill patients under the supervision of the ICU Consultant/Intensivist. The role involves patient assessment, monitoring, emergency management, documentation, coordination with nursing and other clinical teams, and timely escalation of deteriorating patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor ICU patients regularly, including vital signs, neurological status, fluid balance, and clinical condition.
- Perform initial evaluation and ongoing management of critically ill patients as directed by the ICU consultant.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, cardiac arrests, and acute patient deterioration.
- Assist with procedures such as:
- Endotracheal intubation
- Central and arterial line placement
- Arterial blood gas sampling
- Pleural procedures and other bedside interventions, as per competency and hospital policy.
- Review investigations including CBC, renal/liver function tests, ABG, electrolytes, ECG, imaging, and microbiology reports.
- Implement treatment plans prescribed by the intensivist and promptly report significant changes.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records,
progress notes, medication charts, and discharge/transfer documentation.
- Conduct and document ICU rounds with consultants and the multidisciplinary team.
- Coordinate with nurses, specialists, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments.
- Ensure appropriate medication administration, including antibiotics, vasopressors, sedation, analgesia, and other critical-care therapies under supervision.
- Monitor patients on ventilators and promptly report changes in respiratory or ventilatory parameters.
- Communicate appropriately with patients' relatives regarding routine clinical updates, within the scope defined by the ICU consultant/hospital.
- Ensure adherence to infection-control practices, ICU protocols, patient-safety standards, and hospital policies.
- Participate in handovers and maintain effective communication between shifts.
- Assist in maintaining ICU readiness, including emergency equipment and resuscitation facilities.
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
