Finance Assistant

Location: Nagpur, MH

Employment Type: 1Year contract

CTC: ₹5 – ₹6 LPA

Experience: 2 – 3 years

Qualification: Graduation/Postgraduation in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related field (B. Com, BBA, M. Com, MBA Finance, or equivalent)

Position Overview
/n
The Finance Assistant will support the organization in day-to-day financial operations, accounting, project finance, compliance, documentation, reporting, and audit-related activities. The role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to independently manage financial records while coordinating with project and programme teams.
/n
Candidates with hands-on experience in NGO/Development Sector finance, FCRA compliance, donor-funded projects, and project accounting will be strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
/n
Financial Management & Accounting
/n
/n
- Maintain accurate books of accounts, financial records, vouchers, ledgers, and supporting documents.
/n
- Process and verify vendor invoices, payments, reimbursements, advances, and expense claims.
/n
- Perform regular bank reconciliation and ledger reconciliation.
/n
- Maintain project-wise and donor-wise expenditure records.
/n
- Track fund utilization and ensure expenses are appropriately allocated to projects/budgets.
/n
- Assist in monthly and periodic financial closing activities.
/n
/n
Budgeting & Financial Reporting
/n
/n
- Assist in preparation of project budgets, financial statements, expenditure statements, and MIS reports.
/n
- Monitor project-wise budget utilization and identify budget variances.
/n
- Prepare project expenditure summaries and financial reports for management and donors.
/n
- Support preparation of financial presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
/n
- Coordinate with programme teams to ensure expenses are recorded against the appropriate budget heads.
/n
/n
FCRA & Statutory Compliance – Key
/n
/n
- Hands-on experience in FCRA compliance and financial management of foreign-funded projects is highly preferred.
/n
- Maintain proper documentation and records for FCRA-funded projects and transactions.
/n
- Assist in preparation and maintenance of FCRA-related financial records, utilization statements, donor reports, and supporting documentation.
/n
- Support compliance requirements relating to FCRA, Income Tax, GST, TDS, and other applicable statutory requirements.
/n
- Ensure proper segregation and tracking of foreign contributions and project expenditures, wherever applicable.
/n
- Coordinate with auditors and relevant internal teams for FCRA and statutory compliance requirements.
/n

Audit & Internal Controls
/n
/n
- Maintain complete and audit-ready documentation for financial transactions.
/n
- Support internal, statutory, donor, and project audits.
/n
- Provide financial records, vouchers, invoices, bank statements,
and supporting documents as required during audits.
/n
- Assist in identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
/n
- Ensure adherence to organizational finance policies, approval processes, and internal controls.
/n

Coordination & Communication
/n
/n
- Coordinate with programme/project teams, vendors, partners, donors, and management on financial matters.
/n
- Follow up with project teams for missing bills, invoices, utilization documents, and supporting records.
/n
- Respond to finance-related queries and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
/n
- Participate in finance review meetings and provide required financial updates.
/n
/n
Qualifications & Experience
/n
/n
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
/n
- Candidates with 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, project finance, NGO/development sector finance, or donor-funded projects.
/n
- Prior hands-on experience with FCRA compliance is strongly preferred and will be considered an important requirement.
/n
- Experience in managing project-wise accounts, donor reporting, utilization statements, and audit documentation will be an advantage.
/n
- Experience working with NGOs, non-profit organizations, CSR projects, or development-sector organizations is preferred.
/n
