The Position: MTS III Automation Engineer

Panasonic Avionics is the world’s leading supplier of In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) systems, enabling passengers to access live TV, movies, music, games, and more during their journey. We are seeking an Automation Engineer with experience in network automation, API integration, and infrastructure scripting to support the development and validation of a next-generation Traffic Management Platform.

The role involves building automation solutions for testing, configuration, and operational workflows in SD-WAN and cloud/on-prem infrastructure environments.

Responsibilities:

Major Responsibilities

- Design, Develop & maintain automation tools and scripts to support configuration, deployment, and validation of traffic management platforms using Python
- Implement automated testing frameworks for validating traffic shaping policies, performance behavior across various layers of applications, including UI, API, and backend systems.




- Support network modeling and performance validation activities by developing test scenarios and scripts for functional, regression, and integration testing.
- Create and maintain automation documentation, test procedures, and operational runbooks supporting CI/CD and automated deployments and test reporting.
- Monitor and troubleshoot automated test environments to ensure reliable execution of network validation and performance tests.
- Create and maintain detailed test documentation, reports, and process documentation.
- Participate in sprint planning and daily stand-ups, providing feedback and updates on testing progress.
- Continuously improve test automation processes and explore new tools and techniques.

Automation & Scripting

- Proficiency in Python: Strong programming and scripting skills are essential.
- Experience with standard & specialized Python libraries to process flat/CSV files, pandas data frames; embedded SQL code calls, etc.
- Experience with frameworks and tools such as Selenium, PyTest, Robot Framework, or Playwright a BIG PLUS.

API & System Integration

- Hands-on experience integrating RESTful & SOAP APIs and API testing and tools for automation.

Operating Systems & Infrastructure

- Proficient with Linux/Unix & Cloud environments, including shell scripting, command-line tooling, and system-level automation.
- Experience supporting virtualized environments such as VMware and Hyper-V for automated deployment and validation of virtual network components.
- Understanding of containerized network instances (Kubernetes/Docker).

Data & Test Validation

- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and Vertica,



including writing SQL queries for data validation, reporting, and test data management.

Automation Testing & Operations

- Experience developing automated test scenarios for networking platforms, including network traffic packet capture analysis (Wireshark/tcpdump), traffic validation, configuration verification, and performance testing.
- Support operational automation for network maintenance activities such as migrations, upgrades, and validation of deployment.

CICD and Version Control

- Knowledge of version control systems like Git and Bitbucket.
- Familiarity with CI/CD principles and tools like Git Lab CI, or Git Hub Actions.

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE/TECHNICAL SKILLSET PREFERENCES

- Deep Packet Inspection (DPI): Experience with Sandvine/App Logic infrastructure components (PTS, Active Logic, Maestro).
- SD-WAN Excellence: Architecture and operational management awareness with at least one major vendor platform (Cisco, Kognitive).
- Routing & Switching: Awareness of service provider routing protocols, specifically BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT).
- Linux & Cloud Environments: Strong foundation in Linux networking, packet capture analysis (Wireshark/tcpdump), shell scripting, and an understanding of containerized network instances (Kubernetes/Docker).

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology with 5+ years of experience in automation development, network testing, or infrastructure automation.

- - Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments, contributing to automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and iterative delivery processes.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including automated testing, integration validation, and deployment workflows.
- Experience supporting network operations and platform engineering teams through automation and test infrastructure development.
