About the Role
We’re hiring on behalf of a rapid-growing, well-funded travel startup on a mission to transform the travel industry with cutting-edge tech. They’re building intelligent B2B and B2C applications that simplify planning, booking, and managing travel. We're looking for a Backend Engineering Lead to join their India office in Trivandrum (in-person role).

What You'll Do
- Lead a team of 10–15 backend engineers, offering both strategic direction and hands-on technical contributions.
- Build and scale core backend systems, including APIs, asynchronous workers, and automation workflows.
- Define and evolve the product architecture from the ground up.
- Drive backend performance, scalability, and reliability improvements.
- Work closely with DevOps to build and monitor infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, product managers, and other engineers to ship impactful features.

You Might Be a Fit If You
- Have 7+ years of Python backend experience,



with 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
- Are deeply comfortable building and debugging APIs (REST and GraphQL).
- Have experience with database systems — SQL, NoSQL, and optionally graph databases.
- Are confident in deploying, monitoring, and scaling production-grade systems.
- Know your way around Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native tools.
- Have experience with performance profiling and backend optimization.
- Experience building AI-powered applications using LLMs, and RAG.

Bonus Points
- Contributed to Python open-source libraries or tools.
- Built or experimented with agentic AI systems.
- Experience working in early-stage startups.
- Familiarity with GraphQL federation and distributed service design.
