Linux & Middleware infrastructure Engineer (L2) roles and Responsibilities.
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot large-scale Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) production environments with high availability.
- Design, implement, and manage enterprise middleware platforms including Red Hat JBoss EAP, IBM WebSphere Application Server, Apache HTTP Server, and IBM HTTP Server (IHS).

• Lead production support activities, ensuring maximum service availability and adherence to SLA commitments.




- Perform advanced troubleshooting of middleware, application, operating system, and network-related issues using systematic root cause analysis methodologies.
- Architect, implement, and optimize SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management across Apache, JBoss, WebSphere, and IHS environments. • Generate Certificate Signing Requests (CSR), manage Java Keystores (JKS), PKCS12, trust stores, and automate certificate renewal processes.

• Configure and optimize WebSphere cells, clusters, deployment managers, nodes, JVMs, data sources, connection pools, JMS resources, and security settings.
- Administer JBoss standalone and domain environments, including server groups, deployments, clustering, data source configuration, and performance tuning.
- Configure and manage Apache HTTP Server, reverse proxy, load balancing, virtual hosts, URL rewriting, and SSL termination.
- Perform middleware performance tuning, JVM optimization, heap analysis, garbage collection tuning, thread analysis, and memory leak investigation.
- Analyse application dumps, thread dumps, heap dumps, GC logs, and system performance metrics to resolve complex production issues.
- Troubleshoot database connectivity, connection pool exhaustion, JDBC data source issues, transaction failures, and application performance bottlenecks.
- Lead major incident management (P1/P2), coordinate cross-functional technical teams, and ensure timely service restoration.
- Perform capacity planning, infrastructure optimization, and proactive performance improvement initiatives.
- Plan and execute application deployments,



middleware upgrades, migrations, patching, rollback strategies, and post-implementation validation.
- Perform vulnerability remediation, OS hardening, middleware security configuration, and compliance activities.
- Review infrastructure architecture and recommend improvements for scalability, performance, resilience, and security.
- Design Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies and execute DR drills with successful failover and failback validation.
- Implement and maintain monitoring solutions for infrastructure, middleware, and application health.
- Perform log analysis using operating system and middleware logs to identify recurring issues and recommend permanent fixes.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Knowledge Base (KB) articles, implementation plans, and technical documentation.
- Prepare Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports with preventive and corrective action plans.
- Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and execute production changes following ITIL best practices.
- Mentor L1 and L2 engineers by providing technical guidance and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Drive continuous service improvement initiatives by identifying operational gaps and implementing process improvements.
- Manage production, UAT, DR, and pre-production environments while ensuring configuration consistency across all environments.
- Perform Linux kernel parameter tuning, filesystem management, user administration, service management, package management, and server lifecycle activities.
- Support high-availability and clustered environments with minimal downtime during planned and unplanned maintenance.
- Coordinate with clients during maintenance windows, production releases, audits, and critical incident resolution.
