Job Purpose The PostgreSQL DBA will be responsible for managing PostgreSQL databases, ensuring performance, availability, reliability, backup, replication, and operational efficiency. The role requires strong expertise in PostgreSQL internals, database troubleshooting, high-availability solutions, and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support PostgreSQL databases across development and production environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, identifying root causes and implementing optimization measures.
- Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity.
- Work with PostgreSQL internals to diagnose complex database issues.
- Implement and manage High Availability (HA) solutions using streaming replication or logical replication.
- Troubleshoot replication-related issues and ensure database synchronization and reliability.
- Optimize SQL queries, database schemas, and overall database performance.
- Design, implement, and maintain effective backup and recovery strategies.
- Support database availability, failover,
and disaster recovery requirements.
- Use Ansible to automate database administration and operational tasks.
- Manage PostgreSQL environments running on Azure and GCP cloud platforms.
- Maintain database documentation and operational procedures.
Required Skills & Technical Expertise
- 57 years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL databases.
- Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL internals.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for database performance issues.
- Good understanding of Linux OS.
- Experience with Ansible and task automation.
- Hands-on experience implementing streaming replication or logical replication.
- Strong understanding of replication troubleshooting.
- Expertise in query and schema optimization.
- Robust knowledge of database backup solutions and strategies.
- Strong understanding of High Availability (HA) solutions and strategies.
- Experience working in Azure and GCP cloud environments.
