Role & responsibilities
Product Design & Development
- Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical products, assemblies, and components from concept to production.
- Translate customer, product, and system requirements into robust engineering solutions.
- Create 3D models, engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation using CAD tools.
- Drive product innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost competitiveness.
- Support new product development projects and technology roadmaps.
Engineering Analysis & Simulation
- Perform engineering calculations, modelling, and simulations to evaluate product performance.
- Conduct structural, thermal, fluid flow, and multiphysics analyses using simulation tools such as ANSYS or equivalent platforms.
- Validate analytical and simulation results through testing and experimental methods.
- Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) and engineering methodologies to optimize product designs.
Testing & Validation
- Develop validation plans, test procedures, and engineering reports.
- Conduct prototype evaluation, performance testing, root cause analysis, and design verification activities.
- Analyze test data and implement corrective actions to improve product robustness and reliability.
- Support laboratory testing, product qualification, and field performance investigations.
Product Sustenance & Continuous Improvement
- Investigate product issues and provide effective engineering solutions.
- Drive cost reduction, quality improvement, and value engineering projects.
- Manage engineering changes and release design documentation through PLM/PDM systems.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, safety requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Electrical, Software, and Systems Engineering teams.
- Support supplier development, component qualification, and technical reviews.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical leadership for project execution.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
Preferred candidate profile We are seeking Mechanical Design Engineers/Lead Engineers with 5-12 years of experience in product design, R&D;, and new product development, possessing strong expertise in 3D CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or CATIA, along with experience in engineering analysis and simulations including FEA, CFD, thermal, structural, or multiphysics studies using ANSYS or equivalent tools. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in designing mechanical or electromechanical products, assemblies, and systems, with a sound understanding of GD&T;, tolerance stack-up analysis, DFM/DFA, DFMEA, engineering calculations, testing, validation, and root cause analysis. Candidates should be capable of translating system requirements into practical design solutions, driving projects through the complete product development lifecycle from concept to production, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Experience with PLM/PDM systems, cost optimization, reliability improvement, and mentoring junior engineers will be an added advantage. Professionals from industrial equipment, automotive, heavy engineering, aerospace, energy, industrial automation, manufacturing, or capital equipment industries who demonstrate solid analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills are highly preferred.
