The Assistant Manager Diagnostics is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Diagnostics Department, ensuring smooth patient flow, timely report dispatch, effective coordination with consultants and diagnostic teams, patient satisfaction, billing compliance, and achievement of departmental quality and operational targets. The role focuses on improving turnaround time (TAT), service quality, and operational efficiency across laboratory and radiology services.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Service & Operations

- Ensure patients are attended promptly and without delays.
- Monitor patient waiting time and improve service delivery.
- Coordinate with consultants, radiologists, pathologists, technicians, and billing teams.
- Resolve patient complaints and service-related escalations.
- Ensure smooth scheduling of investigations, scans, and procedures.
- Monitor daily patient volumes and department performance.

Diagnostic Coordination
- Ensure timely completion and dispatch of diagnostic reports.
- Follow up on pending reports and investigations.
- Coordinate IP and OP diagnostic services.
- Monitor diagnostic report Turnaround Time (TAT).
- Ensure proper collection and submission of diagnostic records and forms.





Billing & Revenue Monitoring
- Verify cash, credit, corporate, insurance, CGHS, and ECHS billing processes.
- Monitor submission of credit bills and supporting documents.
- Coordinate with billing executives for timely closures.
- Review daily cash verification and revenue reports.
- Obtain approvals for discounts as per hospital policy.

Team Management
- Supervise Billing Executives, PREs, and support staff.
- Allocate duties and prepare shift rosters.
- Conduct performance monitoring and staff training.
- Ensure discipline, grooming, and skilled conduct.

Quality & Compliance
- Ensure NABH/NABL standards and departmental SOPs are followed.
- Conduct quality audits and monitor process compliance.
- Maintain departmental documentation and MIS reports.
- Coordinate with IT, MRD, Housekeeping, and Dispatch teams.
- Escalate operational issues to HOD and management.

Reports & MIS
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
- Analyze patient satisfaction, TAT, revenue, and operational KPIs.
- Present departmental performance updates to management.
- Identify process improvement opportunities.
