Role Description The VMC Machinist will operate and set up Vertical Machining Centers to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting technical drawings, selecting appropriate tools, setting machining parameters, and monitoring operations to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish. The role involves performing basic machine maintenance, inspecting parts using measuring instruments, and documenting production data and quality checks.
The machinist will collaborate with engineers and supervisors to optimize machining processes, reduce rework, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This is a full-time,
in office role based in Bengaluru.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in operating and setting up Vertical Machining Centers (VMC), including tool selection, fixture setup, and parameter optimization.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and machining process sheets with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges for quality inspection.
- Experience with CNC programming basics (G-code understanding), offsets, and adjustments to achieve required tolerances.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, machining materials, and appropriate speeds and feeds for aerospace and automation components.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality systems, documentation practices, and standard shop safety procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot machining issues, minimize scrap, and support continuous improvement in productivity and quality.
- Minimum of a relevant technical qualification (ITI, Diploma, or equivalent) in Mechanical, Production, or Tool & Die, with prior experience as a VMC operator or machinist.
- Willingness to work in shifts if required, maintain cleanliness of work area, and collaborate respectfully with team members and supervisors.
