Responsible for the safe, smooth and timely functioning of the school transportation system, including route management, buses, drivers, attendants, student safety, compliance and parent coordination.
Roles & Responsibilities
Transport Operations: Manage day-to-day school transport operations, including bus deployment, routes, stops, schedules and timely pick-up/drop-off of students.
Driver & Attendant Management: Supervise drivers and attendants, monitor their attendance, punctuality, discipline and performance, and arrange replacements in case of absence.
Student Safety & Security: Ensure adherence to all prescribed student-safety protocols during boarding, transportation and drop-off, with appropriate supervision of students throughout the journey.
GPS & Vehicle Monitoring: Monitor buses through GPS/CCTV systems, track daily movement and promptly address delays, route deviations or other operational concerns.
Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure regular inspection, cleanliness, servicing and maintenance of buses; coordinate repairs and ensure all safety equipment is available and functional.
Compliance & Documentation: Maintain and regularly verify all statutory and transport-related documents, including vehicle fitness, insurance, permits, PUC, RC and driver documentation.
Parent & Internal Coordination: Handle transport-related queries and concerns of parents professionally and coordinate with the Principal, Administration,
Security and other departments for smooth operations.
Emergency & Contingency Management: Take prompt action during breakdowns, accidents, delays or other emergencies and coordinate alternate arrangements while keeping the concerned stakeholders informed.
Special Transport Requirements: Plan and coordinate transportation for school trips, excursions, events, examinations and other activities requiring additional transport arrangements.
Records, MIS & Cost Control: Maintain accurate records of routes, student transport details, attendance, fuel, maintenance, incidents and complaints, and prepare periodic transport reports while ensuring efficient utilisation of resources.
Qualification & Experience
Graduate in any discipline.
Prior experience in school transport / school administration / fleet management will be preferred.
Experience working in a school setting is desirable.
Good knowledge of local/Delhi-NCR routes will be an added advantage.
Proficiency & Skills
Proficiency in MS Excel and basic computer applications.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage drivers, attendants and multiple transport-related activities efficiently.
Alert, responsible and safety-conscious approach.
Ability to handle emergencies and work effectively under pressure
