ABOUT THE ROLE

DJUNK is developing a new circular-textile initiative focused on giving used and discarded textiles a new life through reuse, repair, creative upcycling, rethreading, embroidery and product development.

We are looking for a creative and hands-on Textile Upcycling Project Lead who can help build this initiative from the early concept stage into a structured and scalable project.

This is not a conventional fashion-design role. The selected person will work with recovered textiles, develop practical and marketable products, coordinate with tailors, artisans and community creators, and help establish the complete product-development and production system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Study and classify recovered textiles for reuse, repair, upcycling or recycling.
- Develop creative and commercially practical products from used textiles and textile waste.
- Create prototypes for products such as bags, pouches, storage products, cushions, utility products, gifting products and other new concepts.
- Experiment with stitching, patchwork, embroidery, rethreading and other textile-craft techniques.
- Identify and coordinate with tailors, artisans, home-based creators and community production partners.
- Help build a women-led and community-based creator network.
- Develop product specifications, patterns, material requirements and quality standards.
- Work on prototype costing and improve products for repeatable production.
- Coordinate pilot production and monitor finishing and quality.
- Research new textile-upcycling ideas, materials, techniques and product opportunities.
- Document processes and help create SOPs for the project.




- Support market testing, product presentation and future commercial development.
- Gradually help develop the Textile Reborn initiative as an independent and scalable circular-product vertical under DJUNK.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR Candidates with a background in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Product Design, Craft Design, Sustainable Design or a related field are preferred.

We value practical ability and portfolio quality more than qualification alone.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

- Strong understanding of fabrics, stitching and textile construction.
- Ability to visualize current products from old or discarded materials.
- Hands-on interest in craft, upcycling and product experimentation.
- Basic knowledge of patterns, cutting, stitching and finishing.
- Ability to develop prototypes and improve them through testing.
- Good creative and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of a new project.
- Comfortable working with tailors, artisans and community creators.
- Basic understanding of product costing and production feasibility.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Malayalam and English communication preferred.

EXPERIENCE 2–5 years of relevant experience preferred.

However, candidates with less experience but an exceptional portfolio in textile upcycling, craft, sustainable fashion or product development are encouraged to apply.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
