Role Overview
As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Linux operating systems and AWS cloud infrastructure within our business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain various Linux distributions including RHEL, Oracle Linux, Amazon Linux, and Ubuntu.
- Leverage your strong background in Linux/Unix administration to automate and optimize infrastructure operations.
- Utilize AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, Elastic Load Balancer, and more to design and maintain cloud infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Linux servers, AWS services, hardware, applications, and networking.
- Optimize performance and configurations for specific workloads on Linux servers and AWS compute/storage.
- Administer disk management, LVM, NFS, SAN/NAS, and troubleshoot filesystem and storage issues.
- Perform OS patching, kernel updates, and manage vulnerability remediation.
- Configure and troubleshoot LDAP, user access, and Linux security controls.
- Automate routine tasks using tools like Bash, Python, Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
- Analyze crash/kernel dumps using KDUMP and determine root causes.
- Manage firewalls and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Experience with Red Hat Satellite Server, repository management, and subscription management.
- Monitor systems using SNMP and AWS CloudWatch, including logs, metrics, and event-based alerting.
- Handle Linux backup, snapshots, AWS Backup, and disaster recovery support.
- Manage VMware vSphere Client for virtual server builds and template customization.
- Coordinate with vendors and manage hardware knowledge on HP ProLiant, Dell PowerEdge, and more.
- Troubleshoot mail issues using mailx, sendmail, and related utilities.
- Support AWS governance, including tagging standards, resource management, and cost optimization.
- Mentor junior administrators, create runbooks/SOPs, and maintain documentation.
Qualifications
- Relevant 7yrs technical experience in corporate IT operations or Data Center environments.
- Independent problem solver with strong documentation abilities.
- Experience in Linux servers, AWS cloud infrastructure, backup, storage, patching, virtualization, monitoring, and security operations.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and implementation.
- Experience in process improvement and operational automation.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Server build experience across virtual, physical, and cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of other Unix flavors such as Solaris and HP-UX.
- Preferred certifications: RHCSA/RHCE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Security Specialty, ITIL Foundation.
