System Engineer – IT Support
Location: Ludhiana, Punjab Region | Industry: Education / Group of Schools
Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and proactive System Engineer – IT Support to manage and support the IT infrastructure across a group of schools in the Punjab region. The role will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning, availability and security of ICT systems, hardware, networking, software, CCTV, firewall and other technology infrastructure across schools.
Key Responsibilities
1. ICT & IT Infrastructure Support
- Manage day-to-day IT infrastructure and ICT requirements across assigned schools.
- Ensure smooth functioning of computers, laptops, printers, projectors, smart classrooms and other IT equipment.
- Coordinate with school teams for technology-related requirements and support.
2. Hardware & Computer Support
- Installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of desktops, laptops, printers and peripherals.
- Diagnose hardware failures and coordinate repairs/replacements wherever required.
- Maintain records of IT assets, equipment and inventory.
3. Networking & Connectivity
- Manage and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, switches, routers and internet connectivity.
- Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity-related issues.
- Ensure proper network configuration and availability across classrooms, offices and other school areas.
4. Firewall & IT Security
- Support configuration and monitoring of firewall and network security systems.
- Assist in maintaining secure access to school networks and IT resources.
- Implement basic IT security practices, access controls, antivirus and system updates.

CCTV & Surveillance Systems
- Monitor and provide technical support for CCTV systems, cameras, NVR/DVR and related infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot camera connectivity, recording and display issues.
- Coordinate with vendors for installation, maintenance and technical escalations.
6. Software & Application Support
- Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of operating systems and essential software.
- Provide support for school-related applications, productivity tools and educational technology platforms.
- Coordinate with software vendors for application-related issues and updates.
7. IT Troubleshooting & Helpdesk
- Provide timely technical support to Principals, teachers, administrative staff and other school employees.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking and connectivity issues.
- Maintain an IT support/ticketing record and ensure timely closure of reported issues.
8. Staff Training & Technology Enablement
- Conduct basic IT training and orientation sessions for teachers and non-teaching staff.
- Train staff on computers, smart classroom equipment, software applications, cybersecurity awareness and other digital tools.
- Promote effective use of technology in teaching, administration and school operations.
9. Vendor & AMC Coordination
- Coordinate with external IT vendors, internet service providers and AMC partners.
- Monitor service quality,
preventive maintenance and resolution timelines.
- Support procurement and technical evaluation of IT hardware, software and networking equipment.
10. IT Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain updated records of IT assets, network infrastructure, licenses, warranties and AMC details.
- Prepare periodic reports on IT issues, downtime, repairs and infrastructure requirements.
- Maintain basic documentation of network configurations and IT infrastructure.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Computer Hardware & Software
- Valuable understanding of LAN/WAN, Networking, Wi-Fi, Routers & Switches
- Knowledge of Firewall and basic IT Security
- Hands-on experience with CCTV / NVR / DVR systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office and common IT applications
- Ability to provide technical training to school staff
- Vendor coordination and IT asset management skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel between schools within the Punjab region
Qualification & Experience
- Qualification: Graduate OR Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. / BCA / MCA / CCNA or equivalent qualification in IT, Computer Science, Electronics or a related field.
- Experience: Preferably 3–7 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, networking and technical support.
- Experience in the school/education sector will be an added advantage.
Role Objective To ensure reliable, secure and uninterrupted IT operations across all schools, enabling teachers, students and administrative teams to effectively use technology for academic and operational requirements.
