STEEL FOREMAN – KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Steel Work Supervision

- Supervise day-to-day reinforcement steel fixing activities at the construction site.

- Ensure steel works are executed as per approved structural drawings, bar bending schedules (BBS), and project specifications.

- Ensure proper placement, spacing, alignment, laps, anchorage, and development length of reinforcement.

- Manpower Management

- Allocate daily work to steel fixers, bar benders, helpers, and other workers.

- Monitor workforce productivity and ensure optimum utilization of manpower.

- Maintain proper discipline and work coordination among the steel fixing team.

- Reinforcement Work Execution

- Supervise reinforcement works for foundations, pile caps, columns, beams, slabs, walls, staircases, and other RCC elements.

- Ensure reinforcement bars are cut, bent, fabricated, and fixed according to the approved BBS.

- Check chairs, spacers, cover blocks, binding wires, couplers, and other reinforcement accessories.

- Quality Control

- Check bar diameter, quantity, spacing, lap length, anchorage, and cover before concreting.

- Ensure reinforcement is properly tied and secured to prevent displacement during concreting.

- Coordinate with the Site Engineer and QA/QC team for reinforcement inspections and approvals.

- Material Management

- Monitor the availability of reinforcement steel, binding wire, cover blocks, couplers, and other required materials.

- Ensure proper storage and handling of reinforcement steel to prevent damage and wastage.

- Inform the Site Engineer/Store Department about material requirements in advance.

- Drawing & BBS Coordination

- Read and understand structural drawings and reinforcement details.

- Follow approved Bar Bending Schedules and reinforcement cutting lists.

- Immediately report discrepancies or drawing-related issues to the Site Engineer.

- Productivity & Progress





- Monitor daily reinforcement fixing progress against the project schedule.

- Maintain required productivity and ensure activities are completed within the planned time.

- Report manpower requirements, delays, and site constraints to the concerned Engineer.

- Coordination with Other Teams

- Coordinate with shuttering, civil, electrical, plumbing, QA/QC, and other site teams.

- Ensure reinforcement work is completed and inspected before shuttering and concreting activities.

- Avoid clashes between reinforcement and embedded items/services.

- Safety Compliance

- Ensure all workers follow site safety procedures and use required PPE.

- Ensure protected handling, cutting, bending, lifting, and shifting of reinforcement steel.

- Report unsafe conditions and incidents immediately to the Safety Officer/Site Engineer.

- Tools & Equipment

- Ensure proper use and maintenance of bar cutting machines, bar bending machines, tools, and equipment.

- Monitor equipment availability and report breakdowns or maintenance requirements.

- Wastage Control

- Minimize steel cutting and fabrication wastage.

- Ensure proper utilization of off-cuts and scrap steel as per project procedures.

- Monitor steel consumption against approved quantities.

- Daily Reporting

- Maintain daily records of manpower, reinforcement quantities completed, and work progress.

- Provide daily updates to the Site Engineer/Project Engineer.

- Housekeeping

- Maintain a clean and organized reinforcement fabrication and work area.

- Ensure proper stacking and segregation of reinforcement bars and scrap materials.

- Additional Responsibilities

- Carry out other duties assigned by the Project Manager, Site Engineer, or Management.

- Support the project team in achieving targets related to quality, safety, productivity, material efficiency, and timely completion.

Pay: ₹12,627.22 - ₹49,900.30 per month
