1. Qualification
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing
- Valid Nursing Council Registration
- Relevant departmental experience preferred
1. Roles and Responsibilities – Common for All Staff Nurses
- Provide secure, quality and compassionate nursing care to patients.
- Assess patients' condition and monitor vital signs regularly.
- Administer medicines, injections, IV fluids and treatments as prescribed by the doctor.
- Maintain accurate nursing records and patient documentation.
- Assist doctors during examinations, procedures and treatments.
- Follow doctor's orders and promptly report any changes in the patient's condition.
- Maintain infection prevention and control practices.
- Follow hospital policies, procedures and nursing protocols.
- Ensure patient safety, including fall prevention and identification procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Educate patients and relatives regarding treatment, medication and discharge instructions.
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff and other departments.
- Ensure proper handover during shift changes.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and safety in the patient care area.
- Check and maintain emergency equipment and necessary supplies.
- Attend emergency situations and provide immediate nursing care.
- Participate in training, meetings and quality improvement activities.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Nursing In-Charge or Management.

General Ward Staff
Nurse
- Provide routine nursing care to admitted patients.
- Monitor vital signs and patient condition.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
- Assist patients with daily activities when required.
- Maintain nursing notes, medication charts and patient records.
- Prepare patients for investigations, procedures and discharge.
B. ICU Staff Nurse
- Continuously monitor critically ill patients.
- Monitor ECG, oxygen saturation, blood pressure and other parameters.
- Manage ventilator patients as per protocol and doctor's instructions.
- Administer emergency and critical care medications.
- Assist with invasive procedures and emergency interventions.
- Maintain accurate ICU charts and monitoring records.
C. Emergency / Casualty Staff Nurse
- Perform immediate patient assessment and triage.
- Provide emergency nursing care.
- Assist doctors during emergency procedures.
- Prepare and administer emergency medications as prescribed.
- Monitor trauma and critically ill patients.
- Maintain emergency equipment and crash cart readiness.
D.
Operation
Theatre (OT) Staff Nurse
- Prepare the OT before surgical procedures.
- Ensure availability of sterile instruments and required equipment.
- Maintain aseptic and sterile techniques.
- Assist the surgeon and anaesthetist during surgery.
- Perform instrument and sponge counts as per protocol.
- Ensure proper handling and documentation of specimens.
- Prepare and transfer patients safely before and after surgery.
E.
Labour Room Staff
Nurse
- Monitor antenatal and labour patients.
- Assess maternal and fetal condition.
- Assist doctors during normal and emergency deliveries.
- Provide immediate care to mother and newborn.
- Monitor patients during the post-delivery period.
- Maintain labour and delivery records.
F. NICU / PICU Staff Nurse
- Provide specialised care to neonates, infants and children.
- Monitor vital signs and clinical condition closely.
- Administer medications and fluids accurately according to prescribed dosage.
- Maintain infection control and aseptic practices.
- Assist with neonatal and paediatric procedures.
- Educate and support parents regarding patient care.
G.
Paediatric Ward Staff
Nurse
- Provide nursing care appropriate to children.
- Monitor growth, vital signs and clinical condition.
- Administer paediatric medications accurately.
- Educate parents regarding treatment and home care.
- Ensure child safety and infection prevention.
H.
Dialysis Staff
Nurse
- Prepare and check dialysis machines and equipment.
- Assess patients before, during and after dialysis.
- Monitor vital signs and complications during dialysis.
- Maintain vascular access care as per protocol.
- Ensure proper documentation of dialysis treatment.
- Follow strict infection control practices.
I. OPD Staff Nurse
- Assist doctors during patient consultations.
- Record vital signs and basic patient information.
- Prepare patients for examination and procedures.
- Administer prescribed injections and treatments.
- Maintain OPD records and coordinate patient flow.
J. Medical & Surgical Ward Staff Nurse
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
- Monitor wounds, drains and surgical sites.
- Administer medications and treatments.
- Assist patients with mobility and rehabilitation.
- Observe for post-operative complications and report immediately.
K. Endoscopy / Cath Lab Staff Nurse
- Prepare patients for procedures.
- Verify required documents and consent as per hospital policy.
- Assist doctors during procedures.
- Monitor patients before, during and after the procedure.
- Maintain sterile equipment and infection control standards.
- Observe patients for complications and provide post-procedure care.
L.
Oncology Staff
Nurse
- Provide specialised nursing care to oncology patients.
- Administer chemotherapy and other treatments as per authorised protocols and competency requirements.
- Monitor patients for treatment-related reactions and complications.
- Provide patient education and emotional support.
- Follow safety procedures for handling hazardous medications.
