Minimum Requirement
1
Formal Education or Certification in Software Engineering
Mandatory — bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B.Tech / MCA) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent engineering discipline from a recognized, accredited institution. Candidates without a relevant engineering degree must provide formal software engineering certifications from recognized bodies such as Oracle, AWS, Microsoft, or equivalent. No exceptions will be made under any circumstances.

Total Applied Software Engineering Experience
Minimum 5 years of hands-on applied software engineering experience in a large corporate or enterprise environment. Experience must be evidenced at project level with specific employer names, durations, and detailed responsibilities. Generic skill listings or unverifiable claims will result in immediate disqualification.

Java Development
Hands-on, production-grade Java development — minimum 4 years . Must include Java 8 or above, multithreading, collections framework, JVM tuning, design patterns, Spring Boot, and REST API development. Must be evidenced with specific project details including use cases, scale of deployment, and technologies used.

Apache Kafka
Hands-on production-grade Kafka experience — minimum 3 years . Must include producer/consumer design, topic and partition management, offset management, Kafka Streams, and fault-tolerant messaging architecture. Must be evidenced at project level with specific deployment scale and use cases.

Kubernetes (K8s)
Hands-on production-grade Kubernetes experience — minimum 3 years . Must include pod lifecycle management, deployments, services, config maps, secrets management, Horizontal Pod Autoscaling (HPA), RBAC, and production-level cluster troubleshooting. Must be evidenced at project level.

Microservices Architecture
Minimum 3 years designing and building microservices at enterprise scale. Must include service mesh, API gateway design, inter-service communication patterns (synchronous and asynchronous), and distributed systems resilience. Must be evidenced with specific architecture contributions.

CI/CD Pipelines & DevOps
Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with CI/CD toolchains. Must include at least two of the following: Jenkins,
GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, or equivalent. Must include automated build, test, and deployment pipeline design and maintenance. Evidence at project level required.

Database & Querying Languages
Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases. Must include query optimization, stored procedures, schema design, and indexing strategies. Specific database technologies must be named and evidenced at project level.

Secure Coding & Application Security
Demonstrated, evidenced knowledge of OWASP Top 10, secure code review practices, vulnerability identification and remediation, and security-by-design principles. Must include specific examples of security findings identified and resolved in production environments.

System Design & Architecture
Demonstrated ability to independently produce architecture and design artifacts for complex, distributed, high-availability applications. Must include specific examples of architecture contributions with diagrams or written descriptions of design decisions made.

Agile / Scrum Delivery
Minimum 3 years working in agile teams. Must include sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and cross-functional collaboration. Experience in scaled agile environments (SAFe or equivalent) preferred.

Application Resiliency
Demonstrated experience designing for fault tolerance, circuit breakers, retry logic, bulkhead patterns, and graceful degradation in distributed systems. Must be evidenced at project level.

Unit & Integration Testing
Minimum 3 years with testing frameworks such as JUnit 5, Mockito, TestContainers, or equivalent. Must demonstrate enforcement of minimum 80% code coverage standards and experience with test-driven development (TDD).

Enterprise-Authorized AI-Assisted Development
Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools in a professional work setting — minimum 2 years . Must include specific named tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor AI, or equivalent enterprise-authorized tools).
Generic references to "AI tools" without specifics will not be accepted. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate, validate, and reject AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance,
and security — not merely accept outputs uncritically.

Responsible AI Use in Engineering Workflows
Demonstrated understanding of responsible AI use including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of AI inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations. Must include evidence of actively guiding peers on safe and effective AI tool usage within team practices. This is a non-negotiable mandatory requirement reflecting JPMorganChase's enterprise engineering standards.

Large Corporate / Enterprise Environment
All experience claimed must be from large corporate, enterprise, or regulated financial services environments. Profiles from exclusively startup, freelance, or small-scale environments will not be considered under any circumstances.
Technical Skills — Preferred
Candidates meeting preferred criteria will be prioritized in evaluation. Vendors are strongly encouraged to submit only candidates who meet preferred qualifications in addition to all mandatory criteria.

Preferred Criteria
1
Hands-on experience with cloud technologies — AWS (EKS, MSK, RDS, S3, IAM), Azure, or GCP; cloud certification (AWS Solutions Architect / Developer Associate or above) strongly preferred

Experience running Kafka on Kubernetes using Strimzi Operator or Confluent Operator

Familiarity with modern front-end technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.js

Experience in financial services, capital markets, investment banking, or payments technology environments

Exposure to GraphQL API design and development at enterprise scale

Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or equivalent

Exposure to machine learning, AI platform development, or data engineering pipelines
Experience Level
Minimum 5 years applied experience in software engineering in large corporate or enterprise environments. Candidates with experience in financial services, CIB, or enterprise-scale distributed systems will be strongly preferred and prioritized.
Domain / Industry
Financial Services, Commercial & Investment Banking, Payments Technology, or highly regulated enterprise technology environments.
Educational Criteria
