Role: Software Development Engineer in Test - II

About the Team and the Role The Software Team team at Ather is responsible for building, scaling, and validating high-quality software solutions and web applications across the digital ecosystem.

This role is for a Software Development Engineer in Test - II who will drive end-to-end testing, build automation frameworks from scratch, address complex testing challenges in low-code platforms, and advocate for quality engineering best practices across fast-paced release cycles.

Responsibilities

- Break down high-level business cases and PRDs into achievable, traceable, and executable comprehensive test suites alongside manual and automated test cases.
- Design, update, and execute robust, scalable automation scripts across WebApps, APIs, and various operating systems using Playwright or Selenium.
- Address testing challenges specific to LCNC applications daily, including handling dynamic UI locators, shadow DOMs, and complex third-party API integrations.
- Own QA metrics and perform deep-dive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on raised bugs while sharing daily/weekly automation updates.
- Utilize code and test management tools such as GitLab, Jira, or TestRail, and integrate automated test suites into CI/CD execution pipelines.
- Engage early in design walkthroughs, shift testing processes left, and collaborate closely with developers and product owners to prevent defects before deployment.
- Track end-to-end releases to ensure they meet quality standards required for rapid Agile sprint cycles.
- Continuously advocate for QA best practices while operating with high ownership in a fast-paced environment.

Experience and Qualifications

- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.




- 4 to 6 years of experience with E2E test automation tools.

Must Have Competencies

- Advanced proficiency in building scalable automation frameworks from scratch using Playwright or Selenium WebDriver.
- Expertise in API testing strategies and tools such as Rest Assured.
- Strong command over version control systems, with extensive hands-on experience in GIT.
- In-depth knowledge of core software testing methodologies, debugging, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques.

Good to have Competencies

- Familiarity with Mendix low-code application testing and strategies for testing dynamic applications.
- Understanding of continuous integration and deployment pipelines within CI/CD delivery models.
- Experience with test management and issue-tracking platforms such as GitLab, Jira, and TestRail.
- Exposure to cross-platform testing execution across various operating systems and web applications.
