Senior SQL Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration and Maintenance

- Manage and maintain SQL Server instances across on-premises, Azure, and other cloud

environments.
- Ensure performance, availability, and security of production and non-production databases.
- Monitor database health and perform capacity planning and resource optimization.
- Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies and validate restore procedures.

Upgrades, Migrations and Modernization

- Lead database upgrades and migrations to SQL Server 2025 and Azure SQL Managed Instances.
- Design and execute migration strategies with minimal downtime and validated rollback plans.
- Modernize legacy databases using containerization, managed services, and cloud-native patterns.

High Availability and Disaster Recovery

- Architect and maintain high availability solutions including Availability Groups, failover

clustering, replication, and log shipping.
- Design and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans and run regular DR drills.

Performance and Optimization

- Perform performance tuning and query optimization, index strategy, and execution plan analysis.
- Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and capacity forecasting to prevent incidents.

Automation, DevOps and Tooling

- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and scripting and integrate database changes into CI/CD

pipelines.
- Manage SQL Server Agent jobs, SSIS packages, and ETL processes.




- Use monitoring and observability tools to drive continuous improvement.

Technical Skills

- Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025 expertise.
- SQL Server installation and configuration and instance tuning.
- Database design and administration, normalization, and schema evolution.
- Backup and recovery design and execution.
- Performance tuning and query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
- High availability and disaster recovery including Availability Groups, failover clustering,

replication, and log shipping.
- DAG setups and multi-site replication strategies.

• Database security and user management, encryption, and auditing.

- Monitoring and troubleshooting using enterprise monitoring tools.
- Stored procedures and T-SQL development and optimization.

• Database migration and upgrades planning and execution.

- Capacity planning and resource forecasting.
- SQL Server Agent and job scheduling.
- SSIS and ETL design and operations.
- Windows Server administration fundamentals.
- PowerShell and scripting for automation.
- Azure SQL and cloud database experience including Managed Instances and PaaS offerings.
- Production support and incident management in 24x7 environments.
- Disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing.
- Tidal & JAMS Jobs handling
