Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Performance Engineer to drive the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of our applications and platforms. This role is responsible for designing and executing performance testing strategies, identifying system bottlenecks, and partnering with engineering teams to deliver high-performing, resilient systems.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and a proactive mindset to ensure performance is built into every stage of the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Testing & Engineering

- Design, develop, and execute performance, load, stress, and endurance tests
- Create and maintain reusable performance test frameworks and scripts (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, k6)
- Define performance benchmarks, SLAs, and success criteria for critical systems
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines

Analysis & Optimization

- Analyze test results to identify bottlenecks across application, infrastructure, and network layers
- Perform root cause analysis using profiling and observability tools (APM, logs, traces)
- Recommend and validate performance improvements across code, database queries, APIs, and infrastructure
- Collaborate with developers to optimize code and architecture

Monitoring & Observability

- Implement and leverage observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic, Prometheus)
- Build dashboards and alerts to track real-time system performance




- Establish performance baselines and capacity models

Collaboration

- Partner with Engineering, QA, Platform and Product teams to ensure performance requirements are met
- Provide guidance on performance best practices and design considerations
- Support production performance issues and incident response when needed

Continuous Improvement

- Champion a shift-left performance engineering mindset
- Improve processes, tooling, and automation for performance testing
- Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in performance engineering, performance testing, or related roles
- Hands-on experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, k6)
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and web architectures
- Experience analyzing system performance metrics (CPU, memory, I/O, latency, throughput)
- Familiarity with one or more programming/scripting languages ( , etc.)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (GitHub Actions preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Expertise in observability/APM tools (Datadog preferred)
- Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of database performance tuning (SQL/NoSQL)
- Experience building performance frameworks or internal tooling
- Familiarity with chaos engineering or resilience testing
