Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Manager – Underwriting to manage and lead underwriting for the Sales Channel. The role will be responsible for balancing business objectives with effective risk management while driving underwriting efficiency, quality and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage underwriting activities for the Sales Channel in line with business objectives and underwriting guidelines.
- Drive operational efficiency, accuracy and productivity across underwriting processes.
- Improve key metrics such as Issuance %, reduction in additional requirements and overall quality of business.
- Identify and minimize revenue and risk leakages through effective underwriting controls.
- Balance Sales Channel expectations with risk management and mitigation requirements.
- Manage underwriting during seasonal business peaks and changing regulatory/sales requirements.
- Manage relationships with reinsurers, Operations and internal stakeholders.




- Drive effective underwriting at portfolio level using data analytics.
- Work with internal/external partners to strengthen fraud prevention and risk controls.
- Improve automated and manual underwriting processes through continuous monitoring and process enhancement.
- Lead, mentor and manage the underwriting team while ensuring achievement of functional KPIs.

Candidate Profile
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in Life Insurance Underwriting.
- Strong experience in Sales Channel / Distribution / Banca / Agency / Alternate / Digital underwriting.
- Robust understanding of risk assessment and risk mitigation.
- Experience in portfolio underwriting and underwriting analytics.
- Exposure to reinsurance, fraud prevention and risk leakage control.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work closely with Sales, Operations and other internal teams.
- Experience in process improvement, automation and underwriting systems.
- Proven experience in team management and leadership.
