Senior Electrical Engineer / Technician

Location: Kollam, Kerala

Experience: Minimum 6 years

We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer / Technician for a hands-on role in the design, panel engineering, wiring supervision, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of industrial machinery and automation systems.

The candidate should be capable of handling complete electrical work packages, from electrical documentation and component selection through panel building, machine wiring, testing, and commissioning, while also guiding junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare electrical schematics, panel layouts, I/O lists, cable schedules, terminal plans, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Select and size switchgear, power supplies, motors, VFDs, servo systems, safety devices, cables, and panel accessories.
- Plan and supervise panel assembly, machine wiring, earthing, termination, and electrical testing.
- Develop and validate emergency-stop, guard-door, light-curtain, safety-relay/safety-PLC, and other machine-safety circuits.
- Coordinate with programming and mechanical teams during power-up, I/O checks, motion trials, interlock validation, and factory acceptance testing.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults involving PLC panels, sensors, actuators, VFDs, servo drives, safety systems, and industrial communication networks.
- Maintain drawing revisions, as-built documentation, datasheets, test records, and electrical checklists.
- Guide junior electricians/technicians and ensure proper workmanship and electrical quality.
- Support improvements and standardization of panel-building and machine wiring practices.

Requirements





- ITI Electrician, Diploma in Electrical/Electronics, or B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant hands-on experience in industrial machinery, automation equipment, packaging machinery, or special-purpose machines.
- Experience in electrical design, panel building, machine wiring, testing, or commissioning.
- Strong ability to read and create electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or equivalent software.
- Good knowledge of PLCs, remote I/O, HMI panels, VFDs, servo drives, industrial sensors, switchgear, safety circuits, and control panels.
- Experience with Siemens, Rockwell Automation, Omron, Mitsubishi, Schneider Electric, or similar control systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial communication networks is an added advantage.
- Ability to independently handle shop-floor issues and take responsibility for electrical work from drawing preparation to machine dispatch.

Important Note

Candidates with experience limited to building wiring or general electrical maintenance will not be considered. Relevant experience in industrial machinery, automation, packaging equipment, or special-purpose machines is required.
