Position: Senior Design Engineer – Press Tools & Sheet Metal Components
Location: VKI Area, Jaipur
Experience: 5-8 Years
Qualification: B.Tech / M.Tech - Mechanical / Tool & Die Making
Industry: Automotive - Bearing Cages, Sheet Metal, Dust Shields & Precision Press Parts
About The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer who can lead the design and development of Press Tools, Dies, Jigs, Fixtures & Sheet Metal Components from concept to mass production.
What You Will Do
- Lead design & development of Progressive Dies, Compound Dies, Draw Dies for Sheet Metal & Bearing Cage components.
- Collaborate with Business Development to understand customer drawings and convert them into manufacturable tool designs.
- Create 3D models & 2D drawings using CAD (SolidWorks / AutoCAD / CATIA) with proper GD&T.;
- Perform feasibility study, strip layout design, BOM preparation & cost estimation for current tools.
- Define process parameters - material selection, tolerance stack-up, DFMEA, and risk mitigation.
- Manage Engineering Change Management (ECM) and review drawings made by junior designers.
- Coordinate with Tool Room, Production & Quality for tool try-out, first-off approval & process capability study.
- Lead root cause analysis for tool failures, dimensional issues and implement corrective actions.
- Mentor junior design engineers and manage project timelines.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications):
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Press Tool Design in Automotive / Sheet Metal / Bearing Industry.
- Strong expertise in Sheet Metal Forming, Stamping Process, and Tool Manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of materials (CRCA, Brass, Stainless Steel) and manufacturing processes (Stamping, Bending, Welding, Grinding).
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools - SolidWorks is mandatory.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949, GD&T;, and Tool Room processes.
What Will Put You Ahead:
- Experience in Bearing Cage or Dust Shield design.
- Experience in SPM / Jigs & Fixtures design.
- Knowledge of CAE analysis (Forming Simulation) will be a plus.
