About the Role

We're looking for a Data Engineer to help build and scale a Data Intelligence Platform — the backbone that powers reporting, analytics, and data science across the organization.

This is a hands-on engineering role at the intersection of data modeling, cloud infrastructure, and pipeline automation. You'll design data solutions from the ground up, wire together structured and unstructured sources, and make sure the platform stays fast, secure, and available as it grows. You'll also work shoulder-to-shoulder with data scientists, researchers, and business teams who depend on the data you deliver.

What You'll Do

- Participate in the architecture, design, and implementation of high-performance, scalable, and optimized data solutions
- Build data models from scratch, grounded in strong SQL fundamentals
- Write and optimize in-application SQL statements, including large and complex queries
- Ensure the performance, security, and availability of databases across the platform
- Handle core database operations: upgrades, backups, recovery, and migrations
- Profile server resource usage and tune configurations to match real workload demands
- Design, build, and automate the deployment of data pipelines and applications
- Integrate data from on-premise databases and external sources using REST APIs and harvesting tools
- Build and consume web services, and integrate search technologies, personalization, and recommendation engines
- Collaborate with business units and data science teams on data access, transformation, processing, and reporting needs
- Support implementation, technical troubleshooting, and training across the data lake ecosystem




- Manage AWS resources alongside the team, including EMR and ECS clusters
- Support provisioning, monitoring, configuration, and maintenance of AWS tooling
- Drive automation through Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and CI/CD via Jenkins
- Contribute to data governance, access control, and security risk reduction
- Prepare documentation and technical specifications
- Evaluate and champion new cloud technologies that expand capability and reduce operating cost

What You Bring

- 7–9 years of experience designing and developing cloud-based data models, ETL pipelines, and data infrastructure
- Robust proficiency with SQL across popular database platforms, including optimization of large, complex statements
- Hands-on experience with both structured and unstructured data
- Solid command of relational database best practices, engine configuration, and cluster orchestration
- Experience with Spark, AWS Glue, EMR, and streaming via Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis
- Programming experience in Java, Python, and Scala
- Working knowledge of AWS cloud platforms
- Experience with version control (Git or Subversion) and automated build systems / CI/CD workflows
- Ability to plan resource requirements from high-level specifications
- Strong troubleshooting instincts for common database issues
- Solid foundation in data structures and algorithms
- Familiarity with scalable data model design and management

Nice to Have

- Working knowledge across database paradigms beyond relational — NoSQL, graph, document, key-value, and time-series
- Experience deploying ML models to production
- Familiarity with TDD and BDD practices
- Experience with Terraform and Jenkins in a production automation context
- A track record of evaluating and introducing new cloud technologies that lowered operating costs
