About the Role:
We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage financial operations and ensure compliance within our non-profit organization. The position will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports for internal and donor use, managing statutory filings, and assisting in audit and budget preparation.
The ideal candidate should possess 4–6 years of experience in NGO accounting, including hands-on knowledge of Tally ERP, statutory compliances (GST, TDS, PF, ESI), and familiarity with donor-funded project accounting. Experience with grant management, fund tracking, and financial reporting to funding agencies is essential.
This role is crucial in maintaining financial transparency and accountability across various projects implemented for the welfare of marginalized communities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & BookkeepingManage day-to-day accounting activities, including journal entries, ledgers, and bank reconciliations.Ensure timely and accurate data entry in Tally ERP.Supervise junior accounting staff and support their financial operations.
2. Financial Reporting & Grant AccountingPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and fund utilization reports.Track project-wise fund allocation and expenditures.Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to donors and senior management.
3. Statutory ComplianceOversee and ensure timely filing of TDS, GST, PF, and ESI returns.Maintain proper documentation for compliance audits and regulatory checks.Support in FCRA-related documentation and reporting (if applicable).

Budgeting & ForecastingAssist in preparing project budgets and organizational annual budgets.Monitor budget utilization and flag variances to relevant teams.Support proposal development with cost estimates and budget inputs.
5. Audit Preparation & CoordinationPrepare documentation for internal, statutory, and donor audits.Liaise with auditors and ensure timely resolution of audit queries.Implement and maintain recommendations from audit reports.
6. Financial Controls & DocumentationStrengthen internal financial controls and ensure adherence to financial policies.Maintain secure and well-organized financial records and files.Support procurement-related documentation and payment processing.
Qualifications
- Education: B.Com / M.Com or MBA in Finance or equivalent qualificationExperience: 4–6 years in accounting roles, preferably in a non-profit/NGO environment Technical Skills:
- Strong command over Tally ERP (mandatory)
- Proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting tools
- Good understanding of statutory requirements and NGO accounting standards
