SECURITY GUARD
1. POSITION DETAILS
Position: Security Guard
Department: Security
Location: CAFS Coimbatore
Reports To: Security Supervisor / Security In-Charge
Functional Coordination: HR Department / Operations Department / Administration
Employment Type: Full time
Shift: Rotational Shift
1. JOB PURPOSE
To ensure the safety and security of CAFS Coimbatore premises, employees, customers, visitors, contractors, vendors, vehicles, materials, equipment, and company property. The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining strict access control, preventing unauthorized entry, monitoring movement of people and materials, conducting regular patrols, maintaining security records, and responding promptly to emergencies and incidents.
1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. ENTRY & EXIT CONTROL
- Control and monitor all entry and exit points of CAFS Coimbatore.
- Verify employees, visitors, contractors, vendors, trainees, and other authorized persons entering the premises.
- Maintain proper visitor entry and exit records.
- Issue/verify visitor passes wherever applicable.
- Prevent unauthorized persons from entering restricted areas.
- Ensure visitors proceed only to authorized areas.
- Immediately report suspicious or unauthorized movement to the Security Supervisor/Management.
C. VEHICLE & PARKING SECURITY
- Monitor all vehicles entering and leaving the CAFS premises.
- Maintain vehicle movement records wherever required.
- Verify authorized vehicles, delivery vehicles, vendor vehicles, and service vehicles.
- Ensure vehicles are parked only in designated areas.
- Prevent unauthorized parking and obstruction of emergency access routes.
- Report any vehicle damage, suspicious activity, or unauthorized vehicle movement immediately.
D. MATERIAL MOVEMENT CONTROL
- Monitor movement of raw materials, finished goods, equipment, tools, utensils, scrap, and other company property through designated gates.
- Verify authorized gate passes/documents before allowing company materials to leave the premises.
- Ensure no company property is removed without proper authorization.
- Coordinate with Stores, Engineering, Operations, and Administration for material movement verification.
- Report discrepancies or suspicious material movement immediately.
E. SECURITY OF KITCHEN & OPERATIONAL AREAS
- Maintain security around kitchen, production, storage, service, office, engineering, locker, linen, and other restricted areas.
- Prevent unauthorized persons from entering operational or restricted areas.
- Monitor movement of contractors and external personnel working inside the premises.
- Ensure security procedures are followed during opening and closing of operational areas.
- Report any suspicious activity, damage, leakage, unauthorized access, or safety concern immediately.
F. CCTV & SURVEILLANCE
- Monitor CCTV cameras where assigned.
- Maintain continuous vigilance over critical areas such as entrances, exits, parking, stores, kitchen/service areas, and other sensitive locations.
- Immediately report suspicious activity observed through CCTV.
- Ensure CCTV equipment is not tampered with or obstructed.
- Maintain confidentiality of CCTV footage and security-related information.
G. PATROLLING & PREMISES INSPECTION
- Conduct regular security patrols throughout the CAFS premises.
- Check gates, doors, windows, locks, storage areas, parking areas, electrical/service areas, and other designated locations.
- Identify and report security risks, unauthorized access, damaged locks, open doors, or other abnormalities.
- Pay special attention to isolated and restricted areas during night shifts.
- Record patrol observations as required.
H. FIRE & EMERGENCY RESPONSE
- Respond immediately to fire alarms, accidents, medical emergencies, security incidents, and other emergencies.
- Inform the Security Supervisor, HR, Operations, and Management without delay.
- Assist in emergency evacuation procedures.
- Keep emergency exits and access routes clear.
- Assist emergency services such as Fire & Rescue, Police, Ambulance, or other authorities when required.
- Participate in fire drills, emergency drills, and safety training conducted by CAFS.
I. INCIDENT REPORTING
- Immediately report theft, loss, damage, unauthorized entry, misconduct, accidents, suspicious activities, or other security incidents.
- Maintain the Security Incident Register.
- Prepare written incident reports whenever required by Management.
- Ensure important incidents are properly communicated during shift handover.
- Preserve relevant information/evidence and avoid unauthorized disclosure.
J. VISITOR & CONTRACTOR MANAGEMENT
- Verify visitor/contractor identity and purpose of visit.
- Ensure visitors and contractors comply with CAFS security and safety procedures.
- Coordinate with the concerned department before permitting access to restricted areas.
- Monitor contractor movement while inside the premises.
- Ensure contractors do not remove materials, tools, equipment, or company property without authorization.
K. SHIFT HANDOVER
- Report for duty at least at the prescribed reporting time.
- Remain alert and present at the assigned security post throughout the shift.
- Do not leave the assigned post without authorization or proper replacement.
- Conduct proper handover to the next shift.
- Communicate all incidents, visitor information, material movements, vehicle issues, and pending security concerns during handover.
1. SECURITY REGISTERS & RECORDS
The Security Guard shall properly maintain or assist in maintaining:
- Visitor Register
- Vehicle Entry/Exit Register
- Contractor Register
- Material/Gate Pass Register
- Security Incident Register
- Shift Handover Register
- Key Register, wherever applicable
- Other registers prescribed by Management/HR/Security
All records must be maintained accurately and without unauthorized alteration.
1. DISCIPLINE & CONDUCT
The Security Guard shall:
- Maintain strict discipline and professional conduct.
- Wear the prescribed security uniform and identification during duty.
- Maintain proper grooming and personal hygiene.
- Remain alert and attentive throughout the shift.
- Treat employees, customers, visitors, vendors, and contractors respectfully.
- Not engage in arguments, misconduct, harassment, or unnecessary confrontation.
- Not consume alcohol or intoxicating substances while on duty.
- Not sleep while on duty.
- Not use mobile phones for unnecessary personal activities while posted at security points.
- Not disclose confidential company/security information to unauthorized persons.

- Basic knowledge of security and access-control procedures.
- Ability to maintain registers and records.

- Ability to work effectively in rotational shifts.
- Ability to work on weekends and public holidays when scheduled.
1. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualification: 10th / 12th Standard or equivalent. Experience: Previous experience in security services, hotels, catering facilities, corporate offices, industrial establishments, airports, hospitals, or similar organizations will be preferred.
Security training/certification and experience in handling CCTV, access control, emergency response, and incident reporting will be an advantage.
