ABOUT AMBIENT SCIENTIFIC
Ambient Scientific builds the silicon that lets AI run where the battery is small and the power budget is measured in microwatts. Our GPX10 Pro edge AI processor delivers 512 GOPS of compute at more than 7 TOPS per watt, and holds always-on inference such as keyword spotting under 100 microwatts. That is roughly a hundredfold jump over the conventional 32-bit microcontrollers most products ship with today.
What it means commercially: hearing aids, smart rings, medical monitors, security sensors and industrial nodes can now run real neural networks on device, for years, on a coin cell, with no cloud round trip. We are a small, technical, fast-moving team, and the market for this is opening right now.
WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
We already have a large named account list spanning global OEMs, funded scale-ups and early-stage device makers across the US, Europe, India and the rest of APAC. What we do not have is a dedicated person turning that list into qualified conversations.
Right now our account managers and founders are doing their own prospecting, which means senior time goes into list research and first touches instead of technical discovery and closing. Your job is to own the top of the funnel end to end: decide which accounts are genuinely worth our time, find the right person inside them, get that person into a call, and keep the CRM honest enough that everyone downstream can trust it.
This is a build seat, not a seat in an existing machine. You will be shaping the outbound motion that the next several SDRs inherit.
THE MISSION
Find the right-fit accounts
• Sharpen the ICP. Work with sales and product to define what a genuinely positive fit looks like for GPX10 Pro: battery constrained, always-on, latency or privacy sensitive, with real unit volume and an active design cycle. Then apply it ruthlessly, including to accounts already on our list.
- Research and tier accounts. Build and maintain a segmented account map across our target applications: hearables and hearing assistance, wearables and smart rings, medical and remote patient monitoring, smart home and access control, industrial and asset sensing, voice interfaces, and pet or livestock tracking.
- Identify the real buying committee. In hardware, the first yes rarely comes from procurement. Learn to find the hardware or embedded engineering lead, the product owner and the CTO, and understand which one starts the conversation at which type of company.
- Enrich the data. Much of our account list has company names but no verified contacts. Filling that gap with accurate emails, direct dials and titles is a core part of the job, not an afterthought.
Run the outreach
• Own multichannel sequences. Cold email, cold calls, LinkedIn and follow-up, built into sequences you write, test and iterate on.
You will be comfortable picking up the phone to a stranger in a different time zone and holding a credible thirty second opener.
- Write like an engineer will read it. Our buyers are technical and allergic to marketing language. Short, specific, numbers-first messaging that leads with a power or performance constraint they already live with.
- Personalise at the account level, at volume. Use templates as scaffolding, never as the message. Every Tier 1 touch should show you understood their product.
- Test and report. Track open, reply and connect rates by segment and message. Bring what is working and what is not to the weekly funnel review with evidence.
Qualify and hand off
• Qualify against real hardware criteria. Application and workload, power and battery budget, current silicon and why it is a constraint, expected annual volume, design cycle stage and timeline, and who else has to approve.
- Book and protect the meeting. Schedule discovery calls for the account managers and founders, confirm them, and reduce no-shows with a clear pre-call brief.
- Write the handoff. Every meeting arrives with a short brief: who, what they build, the constraint they described, what they asked for, and what we should show them.
- Close the loop. Feed patterns in objections, use cases and dead ends back to marketing and product. In a market this young, what prospects say no to is as valuable as what they say yes to.
Own the CRM
• Be the person who keeps it clean. Accurate accounts, contacts, activity logging, stage hygiene, deduplication and enrichment. If the pipeline report is wrong, that is on you.
- Build the reporting. Maintain dashboards and a weekly funnel view that leadership can read without asking follow-up questions.
- Automate the repetitive parts. Sequence enrolment, enrichment, lead routing, task creation and alerts. We would rather you build a workflow once than do it manually two hundred times.
THE ARSENAL
What you must bring:
- 3 to 5 years in an outbound SDR, BDR or inside sales role, with a track record you can talk through in specifics: accounts worked, meetings booked, conversion, what you changed to improve it.
- Deep, hands-on CRM fluency. HubSpot, Salesforce or Zoho at an administrative level, not just as a user: custom properties, lists and views, workflows, lifecycle stages, deduplication and reporting.
- Working command of the modern outbound stack. Sequencing and engagement tools such as Apollo, Outreach, Salesloft, Instantly or Lemlist, plus enrichment and data tools such as Apollo, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator or Clay.
- Genuine comfort with cold outreach. You dial without being asked, you handle the brush-off, and volume does not rattle you.
- Strong written English. You will be writing to CTOs and VPs of Engineering at companies whose products they care deeply about.
- Technical curiosity and the discipline to learn. You do not need to have shipped silicon, but within a month you should be able to explain in plain language why running a neural network on device beats sending audio to the cloud, and what TOPS per watt actually means to a product team.
- Comfort operating across time zones and running your own calendar with very little supervision.
Bonus points for:
- Prior outbound into semiconductor, embedded systems, IoT, consumer devices or medical devices.
- Experience selling to engineering buyers, and patience for long design-win cycles where the first conversation and the first order can be a year apart.
- Familiarity with terms such as MCU, DSP, SoC, BOM, evaluation kit, design win, keyword spotting and always-on inference, or a demonstrated appetite to learn them rapid.
- Formal qualification training such as MEDDICC, SPICED or BANT, and the judgement to know when to depart from it.
- Building your own automations with Clay, Zapier, Make or scripting.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Horizon What we expect
First 30 days :- You can explain GPX10 Pro and its value in two minutes to a non-specialist. CRM audited, gaps documented. First cold sequences live against a defined segment.
60 days :- A tiered account map in the CRM with verified contacts at the priority accounts. Consistent daily outreach volume. First qualified discovery calls booked and briefed.
90 days :- A predictable weekly meeting rate, a documented outbound playbook, working dashboards, and a clear point of view on which segments respond and which do not.
How the role is measured:
• Qualified discovery meetings booked and held per month.
- Meeting to qualified opportunity conversion rate.
- Number of new right-fit accounts researched, tiered and contact-verified.
- Outreach volume and reply or connect rates by segment.
- CRM data completeness and accuracy across your book.
Targets are set with you in the first month and reviewed quarterly. We would rather agree numbers you believe in than hand you numbers you privately discount.
THE SQUAD
You will sit inside a small commercial team where account managers own named books across India, the US, Europe and the rest of APAC, and where the founders are still personally in customer conversations. You will work closely with them, with marketing on messaging and content, and with product and applications engineering when a prospect asks something that needs a real answer.
Because the team is small, the work is visible. Good outbound shows up in the funnel review the same week.
WHY JOIN AMBIENT
• Sell something genuinely differentiated. Among true always-on edge processors, published efficiency figures at this level are rare. You will not be selling a marginal improvement.
- Own the motion, not a script. You are building the outbound function, with the autonomy that comes with it and the credit that follows.
- Learn a hard market properly. Semiconductor and embedded selling is a skill that compounds and stays scarce.
- Real equity. Competitive equity alongside base and incentive. When Ambient wins, you win.
- Direct mentorship from a technical founding team, and room to grow into an account executive or SDR lead as the team scales.
HOW TO APPLY
Send your CV and LinkedIn profile to
[email protected] with the subject line "SDR, Global Accounts".
- Include a short note, no more than 150 words, answering one question: pick any company you think should be designing with an ultra-low-power edge AI processor, tell us who inside it you would contact first, and write the opening line of your email to them. We read that before the CV.
