Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Founder & Chief Executive Officer, the Sales and Operations- General Manager will assume end-to-end ownership of the organisation's operational engine encompassing travel logistics, vendor and partner ecosystems, delivering customer experience, and the technology infrastructure that underpins our service promise. The incumbent will be expected to build and own institutional operational rigour, drive efficiency at scale, and ensure that every traveller's journey is delivered with the highest standards of safety, reliability, and spiritual fulfilment at Trip to Temples and highest standards of travel satisfaction for travellers.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth

- Own and deliver the organisation's annual revenue targets; develop and execute a robust multi-channel sales strategy encompassing direct-to-consumer, B2B, institutional, and digital sales channels.
- Identify and pursue high-potential customer segments, geographies, and partnership opportunities; build a structured pipeline management and conversion framework.
- Lead pricing strategy, package design, and promotional planning while ensuring competitive positioning and margin health.
- Build, manage, and mentor a geographically distributed sales team; drive a culture of target ownership, consultative selling, and customer-centric engagement.
- Track and report on key sales metrics — lead conversion rates, revenue per booking,

channel-wise contribution, and customer acquisition cost — and drive continuous improvement.

2. Operations & Logistics Management

- Build on, Design, institutionalise, and continuously optimise end-to-end operations:

covering itinerary execution, ground logistics, accommodation, transportation, and on-site coordination across all destinations.
- Establish standardised operating procedures (SOPs)



and operational playbooks for all travel formats, ensuring consistency, scalability, and compliance across geographies.
- Oversee real-time operations monitoring; build contingency protocols and crisis management frameworks to manage disruptions with minimal impact to the traveller experience.
- Lead capacity planning and resource allocation to support seasonal demand surges, new destination launches, and multi-group concurrent operations.
- Drive operational KPIs including on-time performance, incident rate, cost-per-head efficiency, and resource utilisation metrics.

3. Vendor & Partner Management

- Build on and govern a high-quality, reliable ecosystem of vendors and ground partners,

including transport operators, accommodation providers, local guides, and ancillary service providers.
- Build & Lead frameworks for vendor evaluation, onboarding, contract negotiation, and periodic performance reviews; Build and ensure SLA adherence and quality benchmarking across all empanelled partners.
- Develop long-term, trust-based partnerships with key stakeholders, including temple trusts,

state tourism boards, religious institutions, and hospitality partners.
- Institutionalise a vendor risk management framework to ensure business continuity, quality assurance, and compliance with applicable regulations.

4. Customer Experience & Quality Assurance

- Own and elevate the end-to-end pilgrim experience, from pre-departure briefings to post-

journey engagement; ensure every touchpoint reflects the brand's commitment to reverence, comfort, and care.
- Establish a robust customer feedback and service recovery framework; drive closed-loop resolution of escalations and ensure learnings are embedded in operational improvements.
- Champion a culture of service excellence across the operations and delivery teams;

institutionalise training programmes anchored in industry best practices and spiritual sensitivity.

5. Technology & Process Automation

- Build on Existing technology solutions and identify/evaluate/implement robust solutions —

including operations management platforms, customer-facing platform, CRM systems, and booking automation. Identify gaps and work with Technology team to enhance Tech

Platform— to enhance operational efficiency and pilgrim/traveller experience.

- Partner with technology vendors and internal stakeholders to drive digital transformation across core operational workflows,



reducing manual dependency and improving turnaround time.
- Champion data-driven operations management; build dashboards and reporting mechanisms that provide real-time visibility into operational health, resource deployment,

and customer sentiment.
- Evaluate emerging technologies including AI-powered itinerary personalisation, GPS-

enabled logistics tracking, and digital concierge solutions relevant to the pilgrimage & Other travel context.

6. Organisational Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership; contribute to organisational strategy,

culture-setting, and enterprise-wide governance.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing operations team; foster a results-oriented culture grounded in accountability, empathy, and service orientation.
- Collaborate closely with the Sales & Marketing, Finance, and Tech functions to ensure operational readiness for new product launches, campaigns, and geographic expansions.
- Represent the organisation in key external forums, industry bodies, and government engagements relevant to the travel and pilgrimage sector.

Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory Qualifications

- MBA or Post-Graduate Degree in Travel/Operations Management, Business

Administration, or a related discipline from a reputed institution.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive operations leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior P&L-owning; operations role.
- Demonstrable experience in scaling operations in consumer services, hospitality, travel, or logistics sectors.
- Proven track record of building/scaling and leading cross-functional teams.

Preferred Experience

- Prior exposure to the travel, tourism, hospitality, or religious/cultural experiences sector is strongly preferred.
- Experience in high-growth startups or scaling organisations navigating rapid operational complexity.
- Hands-on familiarity with operations technology platforms and customer experience systems.
- Working knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks including tourism licensing, safety standards, and consumer protection norms.
