Senior QA Manager – Software Development

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Manager to lead the Quality Assurance function and drive software quality excellence across a portfolio of desktop and web-based engineering applications.

This role offers the opportunity to shape QA strategy, build and scale QA capabilities, implement up-to-date automation frameworks, and establish robust testing practices across the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, DevOps, Delivery, and technical teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and scalable software products.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Strategy & Leadership

- Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy aligned with product and engineering objectives.
- Build and scale QA capabilities to support a growing software engineering organisation.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing QA team covering both manual and automated testing.
- Establish best practices, quality standards, and testing governance frameworks.

Test Automation & Quality Engineering

- Drive the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated testing frameworks.
- Define automation strategies covering desktop applications, APIs, front-end, and back-end systems.
- Ensure testing practices are integrated into CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery processes.

Test Management & Governance

- Evaluate and implement a dedicated test management platform.
- Establish clear testing processes covering planning, execution, traceability, and reporting.
- Own quality gates and release sign-off processes.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Partner with Product Managers, Developers, DevOps Engineers, Technical Specialists, and Delivery teams.
- Promote early involvement of QA throughout the software development lifecycle.




- Work effectively with geographically distributed teams across Europe, Asia, and North America.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

- Define QA KPIs and quality metrics.
- Track defect trends, automation coverage, release quality, and test effectiveness.
- Identify quality risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Continuously improve testing approaches, tooling, and quality processes.

Tooling & Infrastructure

- Assess and introduce modern QA tools, frameworks, and testing technologies.
- Support performance, security, and accessibility testing initiatives.
- Improve test data management and test environment strategies.

Required Experience

- 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading QA teams.
- Strong expertise across both manual and automated testing.
- Experience leading QA activities within Agile and DevOps environments.
- Proven experience with desktop application testing frameworks and tools.
- Hands-on experience with API and web automation testing frameworks.
- Experience integrating testing within CI/CD workflows.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience supporting large-scale software delivery programmes.

Desirable Experience

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- ISTQB or equivalent certification.
- Experience working with engineering or simulation software products.
- Exposure to BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
- Experience with AI-assisted testing tools and AI-driven quality engineering practices.
