Job Title: Sr. Chemist - Fertilizers (Inorganic / Organic / Biostimulant) & Insecticides

Department: R&D; and Quality Control

Location: Factory / Lab - Atariya Sitapur, UP

Reports To: Technical Director

Experience: 3-8 Years in Fertilizer / Pesticide Industry

Qualification: M.Sc Chemistry / Agricultural Chemistry + M.Sc Organic / Inorganic Chemistry / Ph.D preferred. B.Tech Chemical is also acceptable.

Role Objective

To lead formulation, quality testing, new product development, and regulatory compliance for Inorganic Fertilizers, Organic Fertilizers, Biostimulants, and Insecticides as per FCO, BIS & CIB & RC norms.

Key Responsibilities

A. R&D; and Formulation Development:

- Develop and standardize formulations for NPK, DAP, SSP, Water Soluble Fertilizers (19:19:19, 00:52:34 etc.)
- Develop organic fertilizer and biostimulant formulations - Humic Acid, Fulvic Acid, Seaweed Extract, Amino Acid, Protein Hydrolysate, Mycorrhiza, Silicon based.

B. Quality Control (QC) & Quality Assurance (QA):
- Daily analysis of raw materials, in-process and finished goods.
- Operate and maintain instruments: HPLC, GC, UV Spectrophotometer, AAS, Flame Photometer, Kjeldahl, pH meter, EC meter.
- Maintain batch manufacturing records (BMR), COA, and lab registers.
- Ensure zero deviation from FCO specifications for fertilizers and CIB & RC for insecticides.
- Develop Insecticide formulations - SC, EC, WP, WDG, SL as per CIB guidelines.
- Conduct stability testing, accelerated storage, shelf-life study, pH, solubility, and compatibility tests.
- Reduce cost of formulation without compromising efficacy.C. Regulatory & Licensing:
- Prepare dossiers for FCO inclusion for new grades, Organic & Biostimulant registration under FCO 1985 (Schedule VI).

D. Production Support:
- Transfer lab formula to plant scale, give SOPs to production team.
- Troubleshooting for caking, settling, foaming, pH drift in liquid fertilizers.
- Vendor development and raw material quality approval.

Required Skills:




- Deep knowledge of Fertilizer Control Order (FCO), CIB & RC Act, Insecticides Act 1968
- Hands-on in HPLC/GC method development
- Assist in obtaining and renewing Manufacturing License, CIB & RC license (9(3), 9(4)), BIS mark.
- Liaison with CFQCTI Faridabad and State Agriculture Dept for sample testing.
- Knowledge of chelation, suspension concentrate technology, and fermentation-based organics
- Documentation as per ISO 9001, ISO 17025

A. Inorganic Fertilizer Chemist:

Focus on SSP, NPK Granulated, WSF, Micronutrient Mixtures. Must know granulation, acidulation, bulk blending, chelated micronutrients (EDTA, EDHA). QC of N, P2O5, K2O, Zn, Boron as per FCO.

B. Organic & Biostimulant Chemist:

Focus on Humic, Seaweed, Amino, Enzymes, Bio-fertilizers. Must know organic carbon analysis, extraction methods, microbial CFU count (for bio-fertilizers), Auxin/Cytokinin/Gibberellin testing. Experience in organic certification.

C. Insecticide / Pesticide Chemist:

Focus on Technical to formulation conversion. Must know calculation of A.I., emulsifiers, dispersing agents, wetting agents. Must have experience in handling CIB data generation, bio-efficacy trials, packaging compatibility. Safety handling of Technical grade pesticides.

Salary Range in UP Market:

Rs. 20,000 - Rs. 30,000 per month + Accommodation (based on experience and Ph.D)
