About AJ Algo
AJ Algo runs a portfolio of automated trading bots across Forex (MT4/MT5), crypto exchanges, and equity/F&O; broker APIs. We build and operate systems that don't just generate trading signals, they execute them reliably, enforce risk discipline in code, and stay resilient around the clock. We're a small, hands-on team where engineering rigor and calibrated scepticism matter as much as trading performance.
About the Role
You will own quality across our trading infrastructure, where bugs don't just break a feature, they can cost real money. Your job is to make sure every order, every risk check, and every model deployment has been genuinely tried to break before it touches a live account.
What You'll Do
Test the full order lifecycle: signal generation, risk checks, order routing, fill confirmation, and position tracking
Validate risk management logic: position sizing, daily loss limits, drawdown stops, and margin safeguards, including edge cases like non-USD-quoted symbols and correlated exposure
Test failure scenarios explicitly: rejected orders, partial fills, requotes, slippage, disconnects, and stale prices
Verify reconciliation logic between bot-held positions and broker/exchange records
Test across multiple venues (MT4/MT5, crypto exchange APIs, equity/F&O; broker APIs) and catch behaviour that doesn't generalise across them
Build and maintain automated test suites for money-touching code, including unit tests for risk calculations
Test monitoring and alerting: confirm the right severity triggers the right alert, and that silent failures don't slip through
Validate ML model deployments: check that walk-forward or purged cross-validation was used correctly, and that shadow to small-allocation to full-allocation rollouts are gated properly
Test server and terminal recovery scenarios: restarts, reconnections, and failover, confirming positions are reconciled before new trading resumes
Log transparent, reproducible bugs with steps, expected versus actual, and evidence
Own the release checklist and sign off before anything ships to a live trading account
Must-Haves
Manual testing fundamentals: test cases, regression suites, bug reporting
Hands-on automation experience (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or Python-based test frameworks like pytest)
API testing and comfort reading JSON responses; experience with Postman or similar
Basic SQL for verifying trade and position data
Comfort with financial/numerical edge cases: rounding, lot sizing, tick values, and precision errors
Ability to work directly with developers rather than throwing bugs over a wall A conservative, sceptical mindset: comfortable blocking a release when something is ambiguous rather than assuming it's fine
Good to Have
Experience testing trading systems, fintech, or other money-touching applications
Familiarity with MT4/MT5, crypto exchange APIs, or broker APIs
Understanding of basic risk management concepts (position sizing, stop losses, margin, leverage)
Experience testing ML model outputs where results aren't identical on every run
Running tests in a CI pipeline on every merge
Basic performance or load testing, especially around latency-sensitive execution paths
