Python Automation Engineer - RDKB / CPE Networking

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior QA / Automation Engineer with a strong background in Broadband, Cable Modem, and Gateway testing. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in networking technologies, hands-on Python automation skills, and the ability to lead a small QA team while driving end-to-end product quality. This role requires close collaboration with customers, development teams, and stakeholders through technical discussions, defect triage meetings, release reviews, and production support activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive manual and automated test cases for Broadband, Cable Modems, Gateways, and related networking products.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Python-based automation frameworks and test scripts for functional, regression, integration, and network validation testing.

- Validate gateway features including

- LAN/WAN connectivity

- IPv4/IPv6

- DHCP

- DNS

- NAT

- Routing
- Wi-Fi performance and stability




- Perform network, performance, scalability, and stability testing using tools such as Iperf, traffic generators, and packet analyzers.
- Diagnose, debug, and troubleshoot issues using Wireshark, tcpdump, SNMP, device logs, and CLI tools.
- Validate firmware upgrades, feature enhancements, and bug fixes while ensuring complete regression coverage across releases.
- Lead and mentor a QA team of 34 engineers, providing technical guidance, test reviews, and quality oversight.
- Participate in customer discussions, defect triage calls, sprint reviews, and release readiness meetings, providing explicit quality metrics and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with development, product management, and support teams to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Support Hypercare and production activities, including issue reproduction, root-cause analysis, verification of fixes, and deployment validation.
- Drive continuous improvements in QA processes, automation coverage, and release quality.
