Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Purchase Manager with 10–12 years of relevant experience in the food manufacturing industry. The candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end procurement activities for raw materials, packaging materials, engineering and maintenance items, consumables, and services. The role requires strong expertise in vendor development, procurement planning, price negotiation, cost optimization, inventory coordination, purchase order management, and supplier performance management.

The candidate will work closely with Production, Stores, Quality, Maintenance, Finance, and other departments to ensure timely procurement and uninterrupted plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Procurement & Purchase Management

- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for the plant, including raw materials, packaging materials, engineering/spare parts, consumables, and services.
- Plan and execute purchases based on production requirements, inventory levels, consumption patterns, and approved procurement plans.
- Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production interruptions or stock-outs.
- Monitor open POs, pending deliveries, lead times, and material commitments.
- Ensure procurement is carried out in accordance with company policies, budgets, and approval processes.

- Raw Material Procurement – Food Industry

- Manage procurement of food ingredients and raw materials in coordination with Production, Quality, and Stores.
- Develop and maintain reliable sources for critical food raw materials.
- Ensure procurement specifications are aligned with approved quality standards and production requirements.
- Coordinate with the Quality team for supplier approvals, material specifications, quality issues, and rejection-related matters.
- Monitor market trends,



seasonal availability, price fluctuations, and supply risks for key food ingredients.

- Vendor Development & Management

- Identify, evaluate, develop, and onboard new vendors as per company requirements.
- Develop a robust and reliable supplier base for raw materials, packaging, engineering items, consumables, and services.
- Conduct vendor negotiations regarding price, quality, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions.
- Regularly evaluate vendor performance based on quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness, and service.
- Maintain healthy and professional relationships with key suppliers.
- Work towards developing alternate suppliers for critical materials to reduce supply-chain risks.

- Cost Optimization & Negotiation

- Negotiate competitive prices and commercial terms with suppliers.
- Identify opportunities for procurement cost reduction and savings without compromising quality.
- Conduct price benchmarking and market analysis for major procurement categories.
- Negotiate payment terms, credit periods, transportation costs, and other commercial conditions.
- Support the company in achieving procurement cost-saving targets.

- Inventory & Material Planning

- Coordinate with Stores and Production teams to maintain optimum inventory levels.
- Monitor stock levels, consumption, reorder points, and material requirements.
- Minimize excess, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory through effective procurement planning.
- Ensure procurement decisions are aligned with production schedules and business requirements.
- Monitor critical and long-lead-time materials and take proactive action to avoid shortages.

- Purchase Documentation

- Manage Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders,



GRN-related coordination, vendor records, and other procurement documentation.
- Ensure timely closure and follow-up of pending purchase transactions.
- Maintain proper documentation related to vendor quotations, negotiations, approvals, and purchase orders.
- Generate and review procurement-related reports and MIS as required by management.

- Cross-Functional Coordination

- Coordinate closely with Production, Quality, Stores, Maintenance, Finance, and Administration for procurement requirements.
- Resolve material availability, quality, delivery, and commercial issues with relevant departments and suppliers.
- Coordinate with Finance regarding vendor payments, outstanding issues, and commercial discrepancies.
- Support Production and Maintenance teams in ensuring uninterrupted plant operations.

- Compliance & Process Improvement

- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, authorization matrix, and internal controls.
- Maintain transparency and proper documentation throughout the procurement process.
- Identify process gaps and implement improvements to enhance procurement efficiency.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required procurement documentation and records.
- Maintain confidentiality of vendor pricing, commercial terms, and procurement-related information.

Experience

- 10–12 years of relevant experience in Purchase / Procurement.
- Preferred only from the Food Manufacturing Industry.

Preferred Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should be a senior procurement qualified from the food manufacturing industry with solid exposure to plant-level procurement. The candidate should have proven experience in managing suppliers, negotiating commercial terms, controlling procurement costs, ensuring timely material availability, and leading a procurement team. Candidates with experience in FMCG / Food Processing / Food Manufacturing environments and procurement of food ingredients, packaging materials, engineering items, and plant consumables will be preferred.
