1. Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Proxmox & Microsoft Engineer with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in virtualization, Windows Server administration, Microsoft technologies, and IT infrastructure support. The candidate will be responsible for implementing, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Proxmox VE virtualization environments, Microsoft Windows Server platforms, Active Directory, networking, backup, and related infrastructure.
The role involves both remote and on-site support across Kerala, including installation, commissioning, migration, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and customer infrastructure support.
1. Key Responsibilities
A. Proxmox Virtualization Install, configure, and administer Proxmox VE environments.
Create, configure, manage, and troubleshoot Virtual Machines (VMs) and containers.
Configure and manage Proxmox clusters and high-availability environments.
Configure Bridges, VLANs, Linux bonding, and virtual networking.
Manage VM CPU, memory, storage, and network resources.
Configure and manage Proxmox storage, including:
Local storage
LVM/LVM-Thin
ZFS
NFS iSCSI
Ceph, where applicable
Perform VM migration, cloning, snapshots, templates, and resource allocation.
Configure and monitor Proxmox Backup Server (PBS) where required.
Implement VM backup and restoration procedures.
Troubleshoot virtualization, storage, networking, and performance-related issues.
Perform Proxmox upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
Monitor cluster health, node availability, storage capacity, and VM performance.
Assist in migration of workloads from VMware/Hyper-V/physical servers to Proxmox.
B. Microsoft Windows Server Administration
Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server 2019/2022/2025 environments.
Administer Windows Server roles and features.
Manage
Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)
DNS
DHCP
Group Policy
File and Print Services
IIS, where required
Remote Desktop Services
Create and manage users, groups, OUs, permissions, and security policies.
Configure and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
Manage domain controllers and perform basic AD replication troubleshooting.
Handle Windows Server patching, updates, and security hardening.
Troubleshoot Windows Server performance and application-related issues.
Configure file shares, NTFS permissions, and access control.
Perform server health checks and preventive maintenance.
Assist with Windows Server migration and upgrade projects.
C. Microsoft Infrastructure
Install and configure Microsoft server environments based on project requirements.
Support Microsoft SQL Server environments at the infrastructure level, where applicable.
Assist with Microsoft licensing and server deployment activities.
Support Microsoft-based enterprise applications.
Configure and troubleshoot Windows-based client/server communication.
Support Microsoft security and authentication requirements.
Maintain infrastructure documentation and asset information.
D. Backup & Disaster Recovery
Configure and monitor server and VM backup solutions.
Perform backup verification and restoration testing.
Troubleshoot failed backup jobs.
Develop and maintain basic Backup & Disaster Recovery (BDR) procedures.
Support disaster recovery and server restoration activities.
Assist in implementing RPO/RTO requirements.
Maintain backup schedules and retention policies.
E. Networking & Infrastructure Support The candidate should have a good understanding of basic to intermediate networking concepts:
TCP/IP
IPv4/IPv6 fundamentals
VLAN
DHCP
DNS
Routing
NAT
Firewall fundamentals
VPN
LAN/WAN
Network troubleshooting
Responsibilities include
Troubleshooting server connectivity issues.
Configuring server network interfaces.
Working with VLANs and virtual switches/bridges.
Coordinating with network/firewall teams during implementation.
Troubleshooting connectivity between physical and virtual infrastructure.
F. Server & Hardware Support
Install and configure physical servers and virtualization hosts.
Perform basic server hardware troubleshooting.
Work with HPE, Dell, Lenovo, or equivalent enterprise servers.
Understand RAID, HDD/SSD/NVMe, memory, NIC, HBA, and server components.
Configure RAID and storage according to project requirements.
Perform firmware and driver updates where required.
Coordinate with hardware vendors for warranty and technical support.
G. Monitoring & Troubleshooting
Monitor server, VM, storage, and cluster health.
Identify performance bottlenecks related to:
CPU
Memory
Disk I/O
Network
Storage capacity
Analyze system and application logs.
Troubleshoot server outages and service interruptions.
Handle incident tickets and provide timely resolution.
Perform root-cause analysis for recurring infrastructure issues.
Escalate complex issues to OEM/vendor technical teams when required.
H. Security
Implement basic server hardening practices.
Manage Windows security policies.
Apply security patches and updates.
Manage user privileges and access controls.
Follow least-privilege principles.
Support antivirus/EDR deployment and troubleshooting.
Assist in firewall and security policy implementation.
Ensure infrastructure is maintained according to organizational security standards.
I. Project Implementation & Site Support
Participate in server and virtualization implementation projects.
Perform installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning at customer locations.
Prepare implementation checklists and technical documentation.
Coordinate with customers, vendors, and internal project teams.
Provide on-site troubleshooting and technical support across Kerala when required.
Conduct system health checks and preventive maintenance.
Prepare installation reports, configuration documents, and handover documents.
1. Required Technical Skills
Mandatory Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in system administration/infrastructure.
Hands-on experience with Proxmox VE.
Good knowledge of Windows Server.
Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
Good understanding of virtualization concepts.
Knowledge of VM provisioning, migration, backup, and troubleshooting.
Good understanding of TCP/IP and networking fundamentals.
Experience in server troubleshooting and infrastructure support.
Preferred
Proxmox Cluster and HA experience.
Proxmox Backup Server experience.
Ceph/ZFS knowledge.
Experience with VMware ESXi/vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
HPE/Dell/Lenovo server administration experience.
Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage.
Experience with iSCSI/NFS.
PowerShell scripting knowledge.
Microsoft 365/Azure fundamentals.
Firewall/VPN knowledge.
Backup solutions such as Veeam or equivalent.
Knowledge of Linux administration.
1. Certifications – Preferred
Any of the following certifications will be an advantage: Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

CompTIA Server+
CompTIA Network+
Linux certifications
Relevant OEM server/storage certifications
Certifications are preferred but not mandatory if the candidate has strong hands-on experience.

1. Job Location & Travel
Primary Location: Kerala The candidate may be required to travel to customer/project locations across Kerala, including Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kannur, Kottayam, Kollam, and other locations based on project requirements. Occasional travel outside Kerala may also be required for specific projects.
1. Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be a hands-on infrastructure engineer who can independently handle day-to-day virtualization and Windows Server administration. The candidate should be comfortable working directly on servers, troubleshooting production issues, interacting with customers, and supporting implementation projects.
A strong candidate should have practical experience rather than only theoretical knowledge of Proxmox and Microsoft technologies.
