About Plastic Fischer

Plastic Fischer is a social enterprise from Germany that prevents ocean plastic by collecting it in rivers to protect marine biodiversity. We develop low-tech solutions that can be built on-site from locally available materials and manage the River Plastic in line with international best practices.

Since April 2021, Plastic Fischer created more than 75 jobs in India and Indonesia and collected and processed more than 1600 tons of plastic.

For the new project in Mumbai, the company is looking for a agile leader with a passion for sustainability and operational excellence.

Profile and Qualifications

- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in active project management, preferably with on-site leadership roles and good communication in English from a manufacturing or waste management industry
- Education: A Bachelors Degree, preferably a Diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Industry Expertise: Prior involvement in manufacturing, construction, or waste management sectors.
- Local Insight: Resident of the Greater Mumbai Area with extensive knowledge of the city.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage diverse and train on-ground teams with empathy and engage with multiple stakeholders at higher levels of authority.
- Decision Making: Independent decision-making skills with a knack for creative problem-solving.
- Communication: Fluent in Hindi and English. Preferably fluent in Marathi.
- Technical Skills: Capability to address and resolve technical challenges innovatively.

Responsibilities

- Project Oversight:



Manage all aspects of the project, including budgeting, operational efficiency, impact and employee performance tracking.
- Technology Management: Ensure the smooth deployment and operation of our proprietary technology, including waste collection systems and the set up of a Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
- Quality Assurance: Supervise manufacturing, deployment, maintenance, and quality control processes involving subcontractors and vendors.
- Team Management: Hiring and managing operational staff.
- Liaising with Government: Liaise with local government officials to obtain permissions to deploy technologies in drains to intercept waste.
- Site Operations: Conduct surveys, perform site measurements, and ensure the appropriateness of potential sites.
- Reporting: Maintain meticulous documentation and regular progress reports to management.
- Logistics: Manage and optimize all necessary logistics to support project activities.
- Travel: Willingness to travel to other project locations in India if required.
