The Project Head will act as the apex operational leader based at the Head Office, responsible for the overarching strategic planning, multi-site execution, financial performance, and timely delivery of all ongoing electrical engineering, sub-station, distribution, or EPC projects.
The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between field execution teams and top management, ensuring that all remote sites operate within approved budgets, safety parameters, and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Multi-Site Portfolio Management & Governance
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to multiple project execution teams deployed across different locations.
- Monitor day-to-day progress, milestones, and deliverables across all active sites from the Head Office via dashboard tracking and MIS reports.
- Resolve critical cross-site bottlenecks, technical roadblocks, and resource constraints escalated by Site Managers.
2. Financial, Budget & Cost Control
- Oversee master project budgets, cost forecasting, and cash flow management for all active portfolios.
- Review and approve major subcontractor billing, material indenting, and high-value purchase orders in coordination with the HO procurement and accounts department.
- Drive cost-optimization strategies without compromising on quality or safety compliances.
3. Resource & Supply Chain Coordination
- Collaborate with HO Procurement and Central Stores to ensure smooth, timely delivery of heavy electrical equipment (e.g., transformers, switchgears, cables, panels) to respective sites.
- Optimize the allocation of manpower, machinery, and technical resources across different project sites based on priority.
4. Quality,
Safety & Regulatory Compliance (HSE)
- Establish and enforce rigorous Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards uniformly across all project locations.
- Ensure all electrical works comply with Central Electricity Authority (CEA) regulations, state discom standards, local statutory norms, and ISO frameworks.
- Conduct periodic audits (or review audit logs) regarding QA/QC checklists, testing, and commissioning documentation.
5. Stakeholder Management & Reporting
- Serve as the primary point of escalation and liaison for key clients, consultants, government authorities and internal management.
- Present comprehensive monthly status reports (PR, financial health, risk registers, and schedule variances) to the Board of Directors/COO.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (B. Tech / B.E.). A Post-Graduation in Project Management (MBA) will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- 12 to 18 years of core experience in managing large-scale electrical infrastructure, sub-stations (HT/LT), power distribution, or EPC projects.
- At least 4–5 years in a senior leadership role (such as Head Office Project Head / General Manager - Projects) overseeing multiple sites simultaneously.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Robust expertise in electrical grid standards, drawing approvals (SLDs), and testing/commissioning workflows.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project) and ERP systems.
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, commercial acumen, and crisis management skills.
- In-depth understanding of contractual terms (EPC contracts, penalty clauses).
