Role Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and result-oriented Production Engineer - Assembly to lead our assembly shop floor for pharmaceutical machinery (such as tablet presses, capsule fillers, blister packing lines, or liquid filling machines). In this dual-focus role, you will be responsible for executing high-precision mechanical and electrical assembly operations while effectively managing, scheduling, and training shop-floor manpower to ensure adherence to quality, safety, and delivery timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution Drive daily, weekly, and monthly assembly production schedules in alignment with dispatch targets and project milestones.
Oversee complete machine assemblyincluding mechanical sub-assemblies, pneumatic/hydraulic piping, electrical panel integration, and final testing. Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and stringent quality standards required for pharmaceutical equipment.
1. Manpower Management & Leadership Allocate daily tasks, shift duties, and targets to assembly technicians, fitters, and contract workers.
Monitor worker productivity, identify skill gaps, and conduct on-the-job training for complex machinery assembly and safety protocols. Foster a safe, disciplined, and high-performance shop-floor culture,
resolving interpersonal conflicts and managing attendance/leave records.
1. Quality Control & Troubleshooting Conduct in-process quality checks (IPQC) to minimize rework, material wastage, and assembly errors.
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance (QA) and Design teams during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and internal trials. Troubleshoot complex mechanical, pneumatic, or basic electrical issues arising during assembly.
1. Process Optimization & Safety Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen principles on the shop floor to improve assembly turnaround time (TAT).
Enforce strict safety guidelines (PPE usage, safe lifting, machine guarding) to maintain a zero-accident workplace. Manage tools, jigs, and fixtures calibration and inventory availability.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Mechatronics Engineering.
Experience: 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in assembly and shop-floor management within the pharma machinery manufacturing or custom special-purpose machine (SPM) industry.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in reading complex engineering drawings, hydraulic/pneumatic circuits, and electrical schematics.
Familiarity with ERP/MRP software for production tracking.
Understanding of validation protocols and documentation (IQ/OQ standards) is a robust plus.
Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, team-handling abilities, and problem-solving aptitude under tight deadlines.
