Role Overview:
The Procurement Specialist will lead sourcing and purchasing activities for auto components, ensuring the right product mix, best pricing, and reliable supplier partnerships.
The role involves Strategic sourcing, Vendor development & Management, Price negotiation across Supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Sourcing & Purchase Management
Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers, for multiple product categories (brake systems, clutches, filters, electricals, etc.).
Negotiate purchase terms & Pricing, and credit facilities with suppliers and manufacturers.
Develop alternate sourcing strategies to ensure supply continuity and competitive pricing.
Consolidate purchase requirements across branches to leverage bulk buying benefits.
Monitor market trends, competitor pricing, and recent product introductions to adjust sourcing strategies.
2. Vendor Development & Relationship Management
Establish partnerships with key brands for aftermarket products.
Develop new vendor tie-ups and manage annual rate contracts or price lists.
Evaluate supplier performance based on delivery timelines, fill rates, quality consistency, and commercial terms.
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to gain priority service, marketing support, and promotional benefits.
Conduct periodic business reviews with vendors to align on targets and growth plans.
3. Cost Control & Margin Management
Continuously monitor purchase costs, landed prices,
and margins to ensure profitability.
Evaluate sources for better cost efficiency.
Support management with price benchmarking and cost comparison reports.
4. Systems, Compliance & Reporting
Ensure all purchases comply with company policies, documentation, and GST/tax norms.
Generate and review MIS reports purchase summary, vendor performance, purchase-to sale ratio, inventory ageing, and margin analysis.
Support audits and maintain accurate supplier data.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Purchase cost savings (%)
Vendor performance index
Credit terms improvement / Working capital efficiency
Number of new vendor tie-ups or brand additions
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: B.E/Diploma (Supply Chain, Operations, or Materials Management preferred)
Experience: 10+ years in Procurement / Purchase / Vendor Management within Auto Components Distribution, Aftermarket, or Spare Parts Trading.
Technical Knowledge:
Familiarity with automotive spare parts categories and brands
Understanding of pricing structures, MRP, discounts, GST, freight, and import terms oHands-on experience with ERP (SAP / Tally / Zoho / Marg / similar)
